  • Jose Mourinho's side are languishing in 16th in the Premier League table

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas maybe suffering for form on the pitch but is keen to show he is ready for the physical battle to reignite their faltering title race.

The Blues star reached the impressive milestone of 100 international caps on Monday night during the 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying victory out in Ukraine.

The 28-year-old posted on social media, ‘100 matches for the team!! 100 unforgettable moments!! Many moments lived unrepeatable. Thank you all for your love and support. A hug!’

Despite his struggles at Stamford Bridge, Fabregas became Spain's all-time record assist maker on Saturday after helping the reigning European Champions qualify for next summer's tournament in France.

The Spaniard set up Paco Alcacer for his 30th assist for Spain since 2006 during a 4-0 win over Luxembourg.

Fabregas returns to Premier League action this weekend with Jose Mourinho’s side languishing 16th in the table after eight games and crucially 10 points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

However the midfielder is adamant the Blues can bounce back against Aston Villa and kick-start their title defence.

'I still believe we can win the league. It's not going to be easy but a 10-point gap at this stage of the season is not impossible,' said Fabregas.

'Last season, we took 22 points from our first eight games but this time every team has lost at least one.

'Manchester City lost to West Ham and Tottenham when no one expected it, Manchester United and Arsenal have also dropped points. No one at Chelsea is happy with our current position but I would prefer to be here now than at the end of the season.

'It's not how we start the campaign, it's where we finish it.'
