Five second rule! 5 Seconds of Summer play fast-paced board game on The Ellen DeGeneres Show... as they celebrate the release of their second album

As far as talk shows go, once you've made it onto Ellen DeGeneres, you really have made it, and this is not the first time 5 Seconds of Summer have been guests on the show.

The giant Australian boy band stopped by Ellen on Friday to perform two songs off their newly-released album and to also play a board game with two lucky fans in the audience.

'You're not mic-ed so you're going to have to yell into their chests,' host Ellen told the delighted girls, who couldn't contain their excitement to be standing next to their idols.

In the episode, the lads tried their hand at the fast-paced game, 5 Second Rule, although the concept of the game was a tad lost on them at first.

Laughing as they hit the buzzer at the wrong time, they got the hang of it in the final round, before their host announced everyone in the audience would be taking away double passes to their show.

It was a quick stopover in California, before they head to the UK and European leg of their 2015 international tour, which see them playing to one million plus fans across three continents.

On Friday, they celebrated the release of their highly-anticipated second album, Sounds Good Feels Good, which follows their Billboard #1 self-titled album.

The lead track She’s Kinda Hot stormed to the top of the iTunes chart in the UK, US and 35 other countries around the world after just a few hours when announced back in July.

5SOS's guitarist Michael Clifford landed in hot water earlier this month, crashing his car in LA while looking at his phone.

Speaking to KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O, the rock guitarist revealed that the incident happened as he was driving to LAX airport last month, saying: 'It was just really stupid.'

He explained: 'We were sitting at a red light and I was looking at something and I just let go of the break,' explained the 19-year-old.

'What were you looking at?' probed Jackie O to which he sheepishly replied, I can't even remember, I think I was just looking at my phone.'

He had earned his first driver's licence only a few days earlier.
