This is the moment a paedophile was snared trying to meet an 11-year-old girl for sex by an internet vigilante group.

Hazaa Said had exchanged explicit messages with the fake schoolgirl and even sent a picture of his genitals before attempting to meet her in Newcastle.

He has become the sixth pervert to be jailed after being snared by Dark Justice - a group which poses as schoolgirls online to trap men who are interested in underage sex.

This time, the group, while posing as 11-year-old 'Amanda' arranged to meet Said, who had been married for just a matter of months, in Newcastle.

The 24-year-old, who is originally from Oman in the Gulf but came to the UK to study, told detectives he was unclear about English law.

But at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, Judge Tim Gittins told him: 'Your excuse that you didn't know the law of this country simply will not wash.

'It is right to say that your discussions centred around hugging and kissing her but you also said it would be nice to have sex with her, with an eleven-year-old girl.

The prosecution said Hazaa Said began talking to the girl on a dating website before their conversations moved onto WhatsApp

'Further, to support that, you sent an explicit photograph of yourself.

'You went and met her, thinking you going to meet a girl who was well under age and you were met by the group that caught you, videoed you and contacted the police so that you could be dealt with.'

Said, who had been studying in London but was living in Newcastle, admitted attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. Judge Gittins jailed him for two years.

Jonathan Devlin, defending, said Said would struggle in custody as English is not his first language.

Mr Devlin added: 'He is worried his marriage might not survive a custodial sentence.'

Said has no previous convictions either here or in his homeland.

Prosecutor James Adkin told the court Said had started chatting to the girl over a dating site and their conversations moved to Whatsapp.

In one message, 'Amanda' asks: 'Hey it's Amanda :) I'm 11 is that fine.'

Said replied: 'Yup. Age doesn't matter for me.'

Mr Adkin said: 'It was made clear that she was 11 years of age. The defendant was 24.

'There were a number of conversations over the following days which culminated in the meeting arrangement

'He said he was okay with her being 11 years old and said it would be nice to have sex.

'He asked her to send him pictures of herself.'

The video shot by Dark Justice shows Said being confronted by the vigilante group.

At first he is smiling, seemingly not understanding the consequences of his actions. But at the end of the clip, a police officer arrives at the scene and handcuff him.
