Three teenage girls have been seriously injured after falling from a carriage on an 'unstable' ferris wheel at a fairground in Sydney. One 14-year-old girl has been taken to Westmead Hospital in a 'serious condition' with pelvis and arm injuries (left and bottom right) after falling around four or five metres from the ride in Liverpool. Two other girls, aged 15 and 16, are being treated for fractures to their arms and wrists at Liverpool Hospital after the ride reportedly tipped over. Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5.10pm.

A 'devoted' mother-of-four is at risk of being permanently separated from her young children after learning her Australian visa has expired. Ivonne Henriquez, 41, wanted to move back to America when her and her husband - a U.S citizen - separated three years ago, however he insisted the family stay in Australia, their home since 2008. Ms Henriquez did not want to separate her four young children - Sophia, 6, Tomas, 7, Mateo, 9, and Diego, 11 - from their father and decided to stay, opening a successful karate school on Sydney's north shore. Incredible footage shows the moment a young boy turned the tables on a playground bully in Germany. The 'underdog' strikes his attacker with a flurry of lighting fast punches that leave him reeling. As the bully tries to regain control of the situation, the smaller boy lurches forward to continue with his counter-defence. Hopping from one foot to the other, he darts forward in pursuit of the bully, chasing him around the playground as the bully's cronies watch on in delight.

Incredible photos - taken in Kruger National Park, Johannesburg - show the fluffy African Jacana scooping up his young, leaving just the youngsters' legs dangling out of his feathers. The bird seems to significantly grow as his chicks find protection under him, but the adorable feathered siblings hang from their dad and their legs can be seen dangling just above the water. Submerging into his feathers, the chicks seem well protected, and their brighter yellow tones become invisible to the predator that has seemingly made itself known to their father.

This is the amazing picture of a Great Mormon Butterfly, which was hatched both half male and half female. The left hand side of the butterfly is male, denoted by its black wing, while the yellow wing is female. Experts at Butterfly World in St Albans, Hertfordshire said it was a one in 10,000 chance for something like this to happen.

The 15 black and white cubs (some of which are pictured inset) have been hand-reared at the Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, a centre which is aiming to reintroduce pandas back into the wild. And today, the little pandas, including six pairs of twins, looked the picture of good health today as they rolled around and cuddled up to one another (main picture) in front of besotted visitors. They will now be specially cared for by a team of workers who are aiming to increase the captive population of giant pandas. The species is listed as endangered in the World Conservation Union's 'red list' of threatened species. They are extremely rare as female pandas are only ready to accept a male and mate for around two to three days a year.
