No real surprises there then. Judging by what the weather seems to be doing though, we might not be seeing much DRS usage in qualifying or the race.

@keisalex Hopefully a total of zero of them.
As for the calendar, it is very sad to see Fontana and Milwaukee go, especially after the races it produced this year. However I simply don’t think that Fontana could have got that season-ending slot that it wanted. Interestingly enough there’s no clash with Le Mans, which might play into the hands of…[Read more]

Craig Woollard commented on the post, Why Hamilton deserves to be a three-times champion 2 days, 13 hours ago
@seabass That’s not necessarily the case though. He could well have taken one look at the 2013 car and realised what sort of path it was heading. That, combined with how the 2014 rules meaning that it was going to […]

@nick101 Where do I start?
First of all, your point about Button having more mechanical retirements is simply incorrect. The statistics from this very website show that Hamilton and Button had the same number […]

Craig Woollard commented on the post, Why Hamilton deserves to be a three-times champion 3 days, 5 hours ago
Hamilton has had near-misses in 2007, 2010 and again in 2012, with a lot of the points lost in those seasons through no real fault of his own. We could be talking about a six-time champion here. Yes, Hamilton has […]

Also Toro Rosso’s second best two-car result. Fourth and sixth at the 2007 Chinese Grand Prix remains their best to date. This edges the 2008 Belgian Grand Prix (5th and 7th) into that spot.

Lewis Hamilton has crossed the line in first place in F1 44 times. 22 times for McLaren (Spa 2008 was taken away from him) and 22 times for Mercedes. He is also the first driver in history to win ten races in two […]

Tough one this time. It’s between Verstappen, Button and Vettel. Vettel’s recovery drive was exceptional and his strategy was spot on. Button was classic Button in damp conditions. However Verstappen for slapping […]

Firmly had the edge on Rosberg all year. Vettel has driven better in my opinion, but because you need to have the whole package to challenge for the title, the best driver out of the two with that package won the […]

I should add however that Sky Sports F1’s commentary was diabolical today, especially David Croft. Full of silly errors and not noticing some big moments. It sort of ruined it for me at times.

9/10. Cracking race. Five cars fighting for the race win. Proper IndyCar-esque battling on the track and multiple safety car periods and some very intriguing strategy decisions. The cars also looked excellent on […]

Banning traction control was one of the better decisions made in recent years (albeit seven years doesn’t really count as recent) really. Watching these drivers wrestle the cars with the incredible amount of power […]

Also what happened to this Renault thing? Surely if a big manufacturer was running a team, they wouldn’t need two mediocre drivers with a substantial amount of cash behind them?

A less-crashy and improved but somewhat mediocre Pastor Maldonado and a guy who took forever to win the GP2 series and has done nothing spectacular in practice sessions.
What an underwhelming line-up.

Rosberg has perhaps had less luck than Hamilton this year (I’m tempted to work out the numbers at some point) but he’s simply been outclassed by Hamilton this year, especially in qualifying. And with it being so […]

@xtwl Farina and Fangio – Alfa Romeo – 1950 and 1951.
Brabham and Hulme – Brabham – 1966 and 1967.
Prost/Lauda and Senna/Prost as mentioned. -

There’s so many contenders for this, and zero of them are Formula One. Says a lot really.
I will start with both the 4 Hours of Silverstone and the 6 Hours of Silverstone. The ELMS race there went down to pretty much the final lap, with three cars in contention with half an hour to go. Likewise with the WEC race a day later, after a late penalty…[Read more]
