Lupita Nyong'o showcases her effortless style as she arrives for performance at New York's famous Public Theater

Lupita Nyong'o was spotted as she arrived for a matinee performance in her Off Broadway play, Eclipsed on Saturday.

The 32-year-old Oscar winner showed up to New York's famous Public Theater in NoHo looking ever the A-list actress.

Carrying a large, bright yellow handbag, Lupita covered her face with over-sized movie star shades featuring a red tortoise shell trim.

The Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens actress also wore a red knitted cap with matching scarf and coordinating burgundy top.

She donned army green skinny jeasn which she paired with light green ankle boots and finished her look by draping a navy blue knee length coat.

Lupita graced the cover of Vogue's October 2015 and spoke to the magazine about her sense of fashion.

'I didn’t know the power of couture until I tried on a couture dress. It made me cry,' she confessed.

Lupita was raised in Kenya and explained the country's sense of style, 'Presentation is extremely important in Kenya. You dress formally. You can’t just wear flip-flops.' 

The Jungle Book actress recalls reading American and British magazines as a little girl which inspired her to design her own clothes.

'In Kenya it’s much cheaper to get clothes made than to buy them,' she explained. 'We would have everything run up by a tailor, or my aunt Kitty, who is very creative, would sew things for me.'

Nyong'o wore no accessories or makeup as her role in the play is a raw performance about 'women’s suffering during the Liberian civil wars,' according to the New York Times.

The 12 Years a Slave actress goes unnamed in the play which is set in 2003 and 'illustrates how women and girls are usually the first and most horrifically abused victims of such warfare,' the New York Times reported.

The Off Broadway hit Eclipsed opened October 14 and will run through November 29 at New York's Public Theater.
