Cebr said that house prices in 2015 are set to be 5.6 per cent higher compared with average prices across 2014 - and the average UK property value will stand at a record high of £263,000 this year. Prices are expected to be 3.5 per cent higher in 2016 than they were this year, with further annual increases of around 4 per cent in the four years that follow. Cebr had previously predicted that house prices would increase by 4.7 per cent annually in 2015.

Odeon charges a 'blockbuster tax' on Spectre and Star Wars adding an extra £1 to tickets for first few weeks of release
Cinema-goers heading to their local Odeon to watch the latest James Bond offering, out today, or Star Wars: The Force Awakens in December, will pay £1 more to watch it in what's being dubbed a 'blockbuster tax.' The cinema giant, which has more than 100 venues, says prices vary depending on 'location, seat type, type of entertainment and time since release.'

FTSE LIVE: Footsie in decline thanks to oil and mining stocks, while WPP warns about anti-risk culture spreading across the business world
At the midway point in the session the FTSE 100 was 11.2 points down at 6432.9, as investors' cheer over more economic stimulus from China and the European Union at the end of last week faded. The same could not be said for the UK, with a CBI survey showing that manufacturing production fell for the first time since 2013 in the three months to October. The pound was flat against the euro and the dollar after the report. The disappointing outcome comes ahead of the UK's key third quarter GDP reading tomorrow.

How to protect yourself from 'The Dark Web': 10 simple steps to keeping your details safe fraudsters and hackers
TalkTalk is the latest victim of a cyber attack, compromising the bank details of four million of its broadband and phone customers. But it's not alone, according to a former MI6 officer who warns of 'mushrooming' losses for companies and a greater risk to consumers. Married IT security consultant Tom Chantler is confident he has never given anything away that would result in his bank account being raided.
How to make rewards and cashback work for you: The five leading loyalty schemes explained and compared
Marks & Spencer has just launched a rewards scheme called Sparks. We compare it against rival loyalty deals and awards each scheme a star rating. Josie and Fatih Ertas (pictured) are big users of loyalty schemes - including those run by Tesco, Nectar, Morrisons and Iceland. But they also use their debit cards to get discounts on a range of high street spending, without having to pledge allegiance to one store.

With car breakdown cover, do you get what you pay for? The lowdown on the best rescue service policies
Vehicle breakdown cover can seem like an unnecessary luxury - until your car breaks down on a cold winter's night and you are left stranded on a motorway hard shoulder. At this time of year the number of breakdown call-outs rises dramatically as temperatures plummet, putting additional strain on both car batteries and engines.John Hesp's (pictured) bank provides cover for his DeLorean.
'We brought Lindisfarne Castle into the 21st Century': Two months until sun sets on solar panel grants
Castle steward Nick Lewis oversaw the £45,000 project that resulted in 48 panels being placed out of view on the east roof. He says that without the feed-in tariff payments the project would never have got off the ground. We explain why you must act fast if you want to join the solar party before the lights go out for good.
Peter and Jane and the £300 Ladybird: Millions were printed, but iconic books soar in value in centenary year
The Ladybird book is celebrating its centenary this year - with a wave of nostalgia pushing up values of these childhood favourites. Many Ladybird editions were so popular, they were later printed in their millions so most surviving books are now worth no more than a fiver. But find a rare copy or first edition and it can be worth hundreds of pounds.
'I was paid £3,000 for a half hour talk': Not bad for Lord Sugar's Apprentice star Mark Wright
As last year's winner, he secured a £250,000 investment to start Climb Online, which enables businesses to find more customers online. The company is already estimated to be worth about £7.5 million, after turning over £1.5 million in its first year. Since winning, the 25-year-old has enjoyed a lifestyle that suits his six-figure salary.
MIDAS SHARE TIPS: Prospects look secure as storage firm Lok'n Store's boost to sites helps it deliver record results
Britain is a crowded island and the South East is more densely populated than anywhere else. Many households and businesses do not have enough room for all their possessions and, increasingly, they are turning to self-storage to provide an answer to their problem. The trend helped Lok'nStore deliver record results last week, with chief executive Andrew Jacobs promising plenty more growth in the future.
Bentley to start production of 'super-SUV' Bentayga next month, but extra costs result in 75 per cent slump in profits
Bentley, which is owned by German car company Volkswagen, has invested £150 million in adding capacity to its manufacturing plant. In addition it has hired an extra 400 employees. Sales remained steady at £1.4 billion for the 12 months to December 31, 2014, but profits dived from £181 million to £46.4 million.

Dip expected in Britain's economic growth to 0.6% for the third quarter due to falls in construction and manufacturing output
During the third quarter Britain's construction sector shrank at its sharpest rate for almost three years in August, according to official data. The Office for National Statistics data also showed that although the country's manufacturing output rose in August, it was still down 0.8 per cent year-on-year. Growth expectations for the full year were recently marked down by the independent Office for Budget Responsibility to 2.4 per cent from 2.5 per cent - weaker than 3 per cent seen in 2014
Oil profits set to plummet by billions: BP and Shell hit as prices plunge and exploration venture collapses
The City expects BP, under chief executive Bob Dudley, to report an underlying profit fall of 60 per cent to £800 million on Tuesday when it unveils results for the three months to the end of September, compared with a profit of £2 billion for the same period last year. Rival Anglo-Dutch oil giant Shell, under chief executive Ben van Beurden, is also poised to report that it has been financially battered.

Brazil, Mexico and Malaysia offer good-value winter sun for Britons after pound soars against global currencies
Many eurozone destinations also continue to be cheap destinations for UK holidaymakers, although the pound, while still being 9.3 per cent stronger than the euro compared to last October, has fallen nearly 3 per cent since July. But the best deals might be far away, as sterling has soared against currencies in long haul destinations such as Brazil, Mexico and Malaysia, which have also seen big drops in the cost of living, according to research by the Post Office Travel Money.
The Investing Show: Is the buy-to-let market about to run out of steam?
Will Britain's small army of buy-to-let investors continue to profit in the years ahead? Rob Ellice, CEO, of easyProperty, joins Simon Lambert, Richard Hunter and Nick Batsford in the studio for a discussion of the prospects for the property market. Also on the agenda is a look at how markets will fare as the year draws to a close and whether investors can look forward to a bright end to 2015.
SIMON LAMBERT: How do you solve a problem like tax credits?
In principle, tax credits were a good idea. Yet, in practice we've ended up with an economy where big business gets away with paying workers less than they need to live on. The problem is that once you get yourself into the kind of mess tax credits have put Britain in, it is very hard to get out of it.
