Donald Trump parried questions about his regular-guy credentials Monday morning, telling a New Hampshire town hall that he ate at a McDonald's the night before.

'The McDonald's, last night, but I shouldn't say that,' he said during the event broadcast on NBC's 'Today' show.

The question, from a Twitter user, also asked whether The Donald had ever worn blue jeans, and how long it had been since he drove a car.

'I drive a car,' he replied. 'To me a great luxury is for me just to get into a car by myself and drive. And I do drive whenever I can. And probably a week ago.'

He also said he has worn jeans.

Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party's presidential front-runner, said last year that 'the last time I actually drove a car myself was 1996,' when she was first lady.

Clinton, who later served as a U.S. senator and secretary of state, has had a Secret Service protection detail since 1992. Former first ladies, like former presidents, have that protection for life.

Trump's love of fast food during campaign trips is nothing new. In May after a speech in Sarasota, Florida, he bought a late dinner for staff at a Burger King drive-thru.

DailyMail.com was on the return flight with Trump and his staff, aboard his custom Boeing 757.

Asked why he opted for burgers, chicken nuggets and Frnech fries instead of hiring a chef to cook in the plane's elaborate galley kitchen, Trump pointed to his wristwatch.

'Time, David. Time,' he said.

He bounded up the stairs to his plane carrying nearly a dozen Burger King bags after arriving at the airport 10 minutes later than the rest of his traveling party.

Trump said Monday that the miggest misconception that chases him on the campaign trail is the claim that he wears a toupee.

'Number 1 is my hair,' he told host Matt Lauer.

'It may not be pretty but it's mine.'
