Not an Australian fan then Harry? Bearded prince looks glum as he watches Wallabies triumph in Rugby World Cup semi-final

  • But he looked rather unimpressed with Wallabies' dominant perfomance

Although his beloved England is well and truly out of the Rugby World Cup, Prince Harry hasn't refrained from continuing to soak up at the match day atmosphere at Twickenham.

However, he didn't appear to be enjoying seeing Australia triumph this afternoon during the Wallabies must-win semi-final against Argentina.

Going by the look on his face, Harry was rather disappointed to see Australia pull ahead to a 19-9 lead at the end of the first half.

And if he was disappointed by the half time score, Harry's spirits would remain low when Australia closed out the game 29-15 with a lead that rarely looked under threat.

Today Twickenham was transformed into a sea of green and gold Australian supporters and blue and white Argentine fans as the anticipation reached fever pitch ahead of the second Rugby World Cup semi-final.

Australia will now play New Zealand in next weekend's championship decider as the All Blacks attempt to retain their status as world champions.

Australia, World Cup winner in 1991 and 1999, have reached the final for a fourth time while the Pumas hopes of making their first final were dashed.

Normally, the Wallabies would be overwhelming favourites but Argentina, one of the most improved teams in world rugby, were the strong sentimental favourites with Diego Maradona in the stands leading their supporters.

Argentina made one change to their team, bringing back outside centre Marcelo Bosch from a one-week suspension which saws him miss the impressive 43-20 demolition of Ireland in the quarter-finals.

New Zealand will become the first team in rugby union history to make a successful world title defence if they win the final, but South Africa pushed them all the way before going down 20-18 in yesterday's other Southern Hemisphere clash.

Australia withstood a ferocious second-half fightback from a brave Pumas outfit to book to set up a World Cup final meeting with New Zealand next Saturday.

An early try from Rob Simmons and a brace from veteran winger Adam Ashley-Cooper established a 19-9 half-time lead for the Wallabies with the flawless boot of Nicolas Sanchez keeping Argentina in the hunt.

A tight and nervy second-half featured just a penalty effort apiece from Bernard Foley and Sanchez before Ashley-Cooper sealed the result and his hat-trick in the 72nd minute.
