Padma Lakshmi has passed the style torch down to her daughter Krishna.

On Saturday, the fashionable mother-daughter duo appeared to be in top spirits as they strolled through New York City, bundled up in warm and sharp coats.

The 45-year-old Top Chef host held hands with her little girl, five, who donned a soft and playful animal print coat.

Padma's little girl had on a bright orange scarf looped around her neck, a knitted brown skirt, and a pair of boots.

Krisha also had a bindi on her forehead.

The fashionista-in-training smiled brightly as she strolled hand-in-hand with her mother, clutching a piece of paper with a drawing of a flower etched upon it.

Padma was every inch the doting mother as she walked alongside her daughter, looking super stylish in her own white alligator print boots.

The outing comes just after Padma took to Instagram to pay tribute to her friend, makeup-artist Jake Bailey, who was found dead on Friday following an apparent suicide.

The cookbook author captioned a screen shot of an E! news story on Jake's death: 'So sad to hear the terrible news that Jake Bailey, our friend and makeup artist has passed away. #RIP.'

Meanwhile, Padma - whose best-sellers include Easy Exotic - is well-known for her role as a host on Top Chef.

She has been on the popular Bravo cooking competition series since 2006.

Padma received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program in 2008.

Then in 2010, Top Chef won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.

Once again, the show was nominated in the same category at the Emmys last month.
