His film producer wife Nancy Juvonen, 48, was also seen climbing out of the chopper, holding tightly to their two-year-old daughter Winnie.

The couple, who wed in 2007, are also parents to 10-month-old daughter Frances.

It is not the first time the accident-prone comedian has injured a finger.

In June, he was rushed to hospital after nearly severing a finger when he caught his wedding ring on a table corner during a freak fall at home.

The comedian was forced to undergo surgery to save his finger, and spent 10 days in intensive car, forcing The Tonight Show to go on a two-week hiatus.

And on Saturday, Jimmy took another tumble and was again rushed to hospital with a hand injury after he tripped over a fan while partying at Harvard University.

The former SNL star was celebrating at a party in his honor, after he was awarded The National Lampoon Elmer Award for Excellence in Humor by Harvard University's legendary comedy magazine.

Jimmy was 'holding a bottle of Jagermeister' and greeting fans when he tripped over a woman who had bent down in front of him, People reported.

He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, but soon returned to the Cambridge event, where Instagram photos showed he continued partying with his hand wrapped in bandages.

Jimmy was also paraded through the streets in a chariot as part of the honor, beaming and waving to the crowd with a purple bandage on his left hand, which is still mending after surgery.

The comedian also posted a photo of the injury to Instagram on Sunday, writing 'nothing that a few band aids couldn't fix.'

A fan who caught Jimmy's tumble posted video to Instagram.

However, a source told People that the talk show host made a quick recovery and that 'everything is totally fine.'

'It was all part of the celebration in the street and some random girl kneeled down in front of him abruptly as he was turning around and he tripped over her because he didn't see her.'

On Monday, Jimmy appeared somber as he returned to Manhattan ahead of this evening's tonight show, which will have comedian David Spade and boxer Mike Tyson has guests.

The actor wore khakis and a windbreaker as he made his way from the chopper ahead of his wife and toddler daughter.
