Her daughter Sarah, a graduate of Babson College - an the elite school attended among others the founders of Home Depot and Zumba Fitness - was taken away by police in the aftermath of the party.

Police had been called to the property on 28th Avenue early on Sunday morning after gunshots at the home which was being rented out for $1,000 via home rental website, Airbnb.

Two men in their twenties suffered gunshot wounds and were in a stable condition in hospital, according to the New York Police Department.

Mrs Bhuiya's next door neighbor, Lisa Randazzo, said that Daisy had sent her a Facebook message saying she wanted to apologize to the entire community.

Mrs Randazzo said she knew her neighbor of ten years was renting out her basement to make some extra income after her husband left.

In the message, Mrs Randazzo said, Mrs Bhuiya claimed that she had rented her home to a 23-year-old man and believed it was for a party for 40 people.

'She said she was upstairs with [her daughter] Sarah and sleeping in her bedroom,' Mrs Randazzo said. 'She only came down when she heard the banging [of the shots],' Mrs Randazzo added.

'It's the first party she's done. It's crazy, people getting shot.'

The neighbor said she came home on Saturday night around 12.30am to find her street covered in police tape and officers searching her backyard.

She said they found liquor bottles and another neighbor had told her that a surveillance camera had picked up someone sitting on their front step mixing drinks.

According to neighbors, more than 200 hundred people, mostly teenagers, turned up at the home on Saturday night.

A man called 'Joel' who was renting the space reportedly posted a birthday party invite on Instagram and charged $25 entry.

Police responded at 12.10am on Sunday to a 911 call at the home. Tyree Walker, 27, and Shaun Lee, 23, were shot after a scuffle broke out.

Police said both were in stable conditions in hospitals in the city but that no arrests had been made.

Mrs Bhuiya had an ad on Airbnb for a 'spacious party basement w backyard'. The ad has since been removed.

The cached version of the posting reads: 'Large basement for any occasions such as wedding receptions, graduation parties, birthdays, family reunions, and more.

'4764 sq ft and we also have a backyard, can be decorated to fit your needs. There are also rooms available upstairs for stay.'

Mrs Bhuiya's daughter, Sarah Bhuiya, 24, who graduated from Wellesley College, lives with her mother at the house, according to neighbors.

Mrs Bhuiya's husband, Rafiq Bhuiya, 59, had moved back to India after the couple separated, according to reports. A neighbor said he was last seen at the home in September.

Attempts to reach Mr Bhuiya, who is the CEO of Manhattan-based Gilnor Bake Inc, were unsuccessful.

Mrs Randazzo said that she had heard 'cursing, screaming and plates being thrown out the window' at the home between the mother and daughter.

The police have been called to the address several times for domestic disputes, according to neighbors.

On Monday, black trash bags, a computer monitor and empty Budweiser cases were piled high on the front lawn.

When a plainsclothes NYPD officer knocked on the front door at 12.30pm, no one answered but an individual, was seen running up the inside stairs.

A local man, who did not want to be named, said that the house is part of Bayside Gables, which employs a security guard to patrol the area from 530pm until 2am.

'Where was he, what was he doing?' the man said, of the security guard. 'I felt uneasy when I got home.'

He said cars were parked up and down the street and that the party had spilled into the front yard. He described the age range of the party as anywhere from 15 to 40 years old.

Police said Tyree Walker, 27, who was shot in the chest, and Shaun Lee, 23, who suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, were leaving the basement of the rented house when the gunman fired.

A witness said that shortly before the shooting, one of the guests made gang signs.

Partygoer Frankie Marchione, 20, told the New York Daily News: 'Everyone was terrified. It was just like a riot. I saw one person on the floor bleeding. We didn’t know it would be this crazy.'

The police have been called to the house around four times previously 'for domestic violence' but this was the first time for a party, he said.

The neighbors in the adjacent homes were not home on Saturday night, which is why he believes that the cops weren't called earlier.

A lady walking her dog in the neighborhood on Monday afternoon claimed the party 'was not neighborhood kids, it was ghetto'.
