The Beverly Hills bargain 'snapped by up Elton': Singer buys ten bedroom mansion complete with ten bathrooms and 11-car garage for £22million ($34m) - £19million less than the asking price

  • Sir Elton John, 68, and his partner David Furnish, 52, have reportedly bought the sprawling mansion in U.S. for £19million ($29million) less than the original asking price of £41million ($63million)
  • Huge Mediterranean-style villa features seven main bedrooms as well as three en-suite bedrooms for staff members
  • It also boasts a grand staircase, ten big bathrooms, 12 half-bathrooms, a large dining room and nine open fireplaces
  • Property, which was once on market at £41million, also has a library, family room, cinema, wine cellar, gym and pool

With its ten bedrooms, grand staircases and plush interiors, it certainly does its best to live up to its £22million ($34m) price tag.

And it appears that despite the astonishing price of their new Beverly Hills estate, Sir Elton John and David Furnish may have snapped it off the market with an impressive deal, paying £19million ($29million) less than the original asking price.

The couple have reportedly bought the extravagant home that has drifted on and off the market for the last four years, seeing the price slowly drop from £41million ($63million).

According to American magazine Variety, Sir Elton, 68, and Mr Furnish, 52, are the proud new owners of the mansion, built in 2001 and sold by Armand Marciano, co-founder of fashion label Guess.

Boasting an elevator to help guests navigate its three floors, the Mediterranean-style villa stretches to 25,000 square feet, more than 20 times larger than the average new-build home in the UK.

Sir Elton, who is worth £270million ($413million), will be adding the house to his already impressive property portfolio.

The singer also reportedly bought another Beverly Hills home in 2012 for £4.7million ($7.2m), as well as owning a property in Atlanta, a lavish villa atop Mont Boron in Nice, a country estate in Windsor and a town house in London’s exclusive Holland Park area.

The new home comes with seven main bedrooms, along with three en suite staff bedrooms, 10 bathrooms – as well as 12 half bathrooms – nine fireplaces, and an 11-car subterranean garage.

The latter feature may come in handy for Sir Elton, who is a keen car collector. In 2001, he sold a fleet of 20 Aston Martins, Bentleys, Ferraris, Jaguars and Rolls Royces for £2million ($3m). He was left with eight cars even after the auction.

The house was designed specifically for large-scale entertaining and has a double-height foyer, as well as expansive living and dining rooms. It also has a commercial-grade kitchen as well as a library, family room, cinema, wine cellar and gym.

The grounds are carefully landscaped with large lawns bordered by flowers and pathways. There is a swimming pool and a pool house with its own kitchen and pizza oven, and a tennis court.

Sir Elton and Mr Furnish are parents to Zachary, four, and Elijah, two.
