Khloe Kardashian's brother stepped up with the generous offer after it emerged Odom may need a new kidney as his medical treatment continues in Los Angeles.

It's unclear whether Odom and Rob are a compatible match for a kidney transplant, but Rob is willing to undergo medical tests to find out, sources reveal.

One source told Daily Mail Online: 'Rob is willing to do whatever it takes to help Lamar recover. If that means donating a kidney then so be it, Rob has a big heart and he's willing to step up to help his friend

The 'Special Report' segment of syndicated show The Doctors, will feature a segment on tomorrow's suggesting that Rob will offer his kidney to save best pal, Lamar, if a transplant becomes necessary.

It's believed Odom is currently undergoing regular kidney dialysis treatment at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in LA as he battles to recover.

Odom, 35, was found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel called the Love Ranch more than a week ago, following a three-day $79-000 drugs and drink blow out with two prostitutes.

Police were told that he had used cocaine and sexual-enhancement supplements during his stay at the brothel.

He suffered several strokes and multiple organ failure, and while other organs have returned to functionality, doctors believe his kidneys are still failing.

According to reports Rob has been 'instrumental' in Odom's recovery this past week.

Kpopstarz.com reports that the 28-year-old came out of self-imposed hiding and put aside his personal issues to support his brother-in-law.

Although it's not clear whether Rob has been to hospital to visit with his friend, it has been reported that Odom is wearing a pair of Rob's designer socks from his Arthur George line.

He is said to love a black and white pair that have 'BIG' written on one sole and 'DADDY' on the other.

In recent weeks since Odom was hospitalized, Rob has shared a number of Instagram posts, which is unusual for the typically-reclusive former reality star.

'Praying nonstop for my brother!!' the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star wrote along with an old picture with the former NBA star.

The younger Kardashian was close to Odom prior to his brother-in-law's falling out with his sister Khloe.

Rob and Odom became friends when Rob lived with him and Khloe and he regularly called him his 'brother' in public.

When Khloe and Odom split, Rob was hit hard. The only male Kardashian has been battling depression and a number of personal issues, it is believed.

Khloe has been by her estranged husband's side since he was found in a critical condition on October 13.

Since Odom was transferred to LA, she has left her husband just once to attend Kim Kardashian's baby shower this past Sunday.

The couple's lawyer has successfully applied for their divorce proceedings to be dismissed in a California court as they try to patch their marriage up.

Khloe also broke her silence earlier this week, saying: 'The past week has been so difficult.

'I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar.'

Odom is expected to receive extensive rehabilitation therapy in order to improve his condition in the coming months and needs all the support he can get.

But Rob isn't the only person to step forward to offer help.

A group of loyal fans took to social media to offer up their kidneys as well.

One said: 'I need Lamar to pull through this. Willing to donate a kidney if it will help. PLEASE.'

Another wrote: 'If Lamar Odom needs a kidney, I will gladly give up one of mine without a second thought. Mistakes do not define us.'

Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly said that a worker at the Love Ranch where Odom was found described him as unresponsive with blood coming from his nose and mouth after he collapsed on October 13.

The Love Ranch owner Dennis Hof said Odom had arrived on October 10 for a four-day stay and spent $79,000 on two women who accompanied him in a VIP suite.

Odom won the NBA championship with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and was named NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2011.

He last played in the NBA in 2013 with the Clippers.
