'He rarely cries': Carrie Underwood gushes about baby son Isaiah saying he's the 'sweetest, smiliest baby ever' 

Carrie Underwood gushed about her baby son Isaiah during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday.

The country star, 32, told the chat show host that the eight month old is 'the sweetest and smiliest baby, I think, ever.'

'He rarely like cries,' she said, adding: 'So that’s a blessing when you’re, like, waking up at 3 o'clock in the morning and he’s, like, smiling at you. That makes it not so bad.'

The new mom, who's wed to Canadian NHL star Mike Fisher, said her first child is getting better at sleeping through the night and that she and Fisher share the responsibility of tending to him if he does wake up.

'I think we’re both really good at picking up the slack when the other one is super busy,' she said.

The singer said she makes sure that when Fisher has a hockey game the next day, she gets up to look after Isaiah so he gets a good night's sleep.

She told Ellen that her husband of five years, who plays for the Nashville Predators, is a 'great' dad.

The seven-time Grammy winner also announced Tuesday she's heading out on tour in support of her fifth album Storyteller.

She'll perform at 40 arenas across the U.S. and Canada, kicking off the series of concerts in Jacksonville, Florida, on January 30.

She told Ellen that she'll be taking her son with her and that the tour will be done by the time the NHL season ends so the family can be together over the summer.

During her appearance on the daytime chat show, Ellen gifted Underwood with a jacket that had attached to it all the bells and whistles a busy mother needs,including a bottle, car keys and a cell phone.

The comedienne also challenged her to a game of Country Song Or Country Wrong in which they had to decide whether a sentence on screen was the title of a real country song or not.
