Mummy's little bear: Keira Knightley dotes on baby Edie on family day out with husband James Righton and her parents

She's been treading the boards on a nightly basis in her current Broadway role.

But when Keira Knightley isn't acting, she's spending as much time as possible with her new little family.

The Oscar-nominated actress, 30, enjoyed an afternoon stroll with her baby daughter Edie in Manhattan on Tuesday as she was joined by her musician husband James Righton, 32.

Give heels the boot for some sturdy lace ups like Keira

If there's one thing we admire about Keira Knightley's dress sense, it's her ability to look undeniably cool whether she's dressed down by day or dressed up for the red carpet.

Keira's latest look is no exception, as the actress stepped out in New York rocking her signature off duty look in oversized cowl neck jumper, boyfriend jeans and a pair of Dr Marten's cult hiking boots.

Now that winter is here we're looking for a far sturdier (and warmer) option on the footwear front, and they don't come more robust than a pair of classic DM's.

As proved by Keira, who's worn these boots more times than we can count, a pair of these bad boys will last you forever and just get better with age. They look great teamed with slouchy jeans like Keira, or use them to edge up pretty dresses.

It looked like Keira's parents Sharman Macdonald and Will Knightley had flown over to New York to visit their daughter and spend time with their grandchild.

New mother Keira looked comfortable and casual in her denim jeans, navy sweater, brown shoes and a pair of mirror sunglasses.

Her five-month-old daughter was wrapped up for the cold in a cute blue hooded cardigan with little bear ears on the top over a checked skirt and tights.

Keira looked like a natural at motherhood as she stroll along carrying her little bundle in a Ergobaby carrier.

Her playwright mum helped out by carrying the 'baby bag' full of nappies and a bottle of milk for the little girl.

Keira and her husband James, of The Klaxons, welcomed their baby girl Edie into the world in May, after two years of marriage.

The family are in New York for Keira's Broadway debut, where she is starring in the Roundabout Theater Company's adaptation of Therese Raquin.

The Imitation Game star told Vogue that having her daughter around helped her deal with playing such a dark role.

'I get to inhabit this claustrophobic world and plumb the depths of human misery and depravity,' she said.

'And then I emerge, and I've got the loveliest, loveliest little girl waiting for me, and I get home and she goes 'Ba!' at me,' she said.

'You couldn't ask for more.'
