He is one of the most formidable villains James Bond has ever come up against.

Hulking Mr Hinx - chief henchman of Bond's nemesis Franz Oberhauser - wields a double barreled AF2011 pistol and his giant tattooed arms pack a brutal punch in upcoming movie Spectre.

And Daily Mail Online can reveal that the man behind deadly muscle-bound killer Mr Hinx is almost as colorful as the character he plays.

WrestleMania superstar turned actor, Dave 'The Animal' Bautista (he spelled his name without the 'u' when he was wrestling), has a personal history of violence, crime and womanizing that make him the ideal candidate to play a Bond villain.

The 46-year-old has been a body builder, life-guard, bouncer, bodyguard, break-dancer and a World Champion wrestler.

Bautista is the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history, and has won the World Tag Team Championship three times among other titles

And according to Bautista's autobiography 'Batista Unleashed', of all the brutal Bond villains that have gone before him, none are as familiar with death, violence and crime as Bautista.

Born in an impoverished area of Washington D.C, Bautista's childhood and youth was plagued with violence.

Before the age of nine there had been three murders on his block and for those around the self-confessed 'thug' who skipped school and got in to regular trouble, his future looked bleak.

'We lived in one of the poorest places in the country. Back then, murder was common and crack cocaine was just getting started,' he wrote in his autobiography.

'Life expectancy for a kid was worse than in many third world countries and homelessness was at its peak. Even the law-abiding people viewed the police as the enemy.

'We lived in the southeast and it had a pretty high homicide rate. Guns, knives, even fists were used to kill people regularly. I remember people getting shot, and a crowd of people beating up one guy right in front of our house.

'One time a guy was trying to shoot someone on our block and instead of shooting the person he had the beef with, he hit an innocent girl.

'People in the neighborhood grabbed him and were taking him to the highway overpass to throw him off. My mother called the police and managed to convince them to get there just in time to stop the mob from killing the guy.'

Another time, he writes, someone was found dead in his front yard. His mom found this man with a bullet hole in his head.

'My mom called an ambulance but forty-five minutes later, neither the police or the ambulance had arrived.'

Bautista says he didn't live in a typical household and says his mom Donna Bautista was so broke she would make a big pot of bean soup to last the family a whole week.

One time his mother burned the soup, but because it was all they had, it was all they ate for a week, he recalls.

Bautista spent his youth outside, hanging with the local kids, skipping school and getting arrested for fighting, stealing cars, gun crime and drugs.

By the time he was - or should have been - in sixth grade, he admits, he skipped just about the whole year of school.

'I got into lots of fights at school, mostly because I was just hotheaded. I was charged with assault because of one of those fights.

'When I got suspended my dad beat the s**t out of me with his weight-lifting belt. 'But I took it. I always stood up to him. The next time I got in trouble, I went and took the belt out and threw it on his bed and waited. Why? Because f*** him, that's why.

'I was definitely a thug, and everyone was afraid of where I was headed.'

In 1989 he was arrested for shooting a firearm in an occupied dwelling. He was jailed for a week and then the charges were dropped.

Soon after he was arrested again after drugs were found in a friend's car.

'They put me in a drug program and gave me a year probation.'

Against the odds, Bautista's experience with drugs was brief as he claims to have rarely felt the lure or desire for narcotics.

'I never really did a lot of drugs. Smoking weed or marijuana always made me paranoid. I really hate that feeling. I'm not even much of a drinker. I've just never enjoyed it all that much.'

He and his friends hung around on rooftops and would try to look into people's apartments. He remembers a couple of times watching people have sex.

'We'd hang out in the Tenderloin district and tease hookers but none of us were interested in them in a sexual way, and I was actually a late bloomer.

'By the time I was thirteen I was getting arrested for petty stuff. I was stealing because all of my friends were doing it.'

The troubled kid was eventually sent to a children's home, known as Group Home, to try to straighten out.

'It was punishment and you didn't have much freedom. I had to follow rules that I didn't necessarily like it, but I didn't hate it either,' he wrote.

'I don't pretend to be a deep thinker and I don't talk that much. When I talk, I say what I honestly feel and I say it plainly, in just a few words.

'The truth is, I never finished high school. It's painful and embarrassing as hell for me to admit that I never graduated. I have regretted that my whole life.'

Bautista - who is of Filipino and Greek descent - reflects on those days with regret, but is also grateful to be able to show children today the error of his ways.

That group home is still there today and a judge there invited him to talk to some of the kids.

'It was just an awesome experience. I haven't been an angel in my life, but if I can be a role model by helping people learn from my mistakes and avoid my problems and give them hope, then that's a really special privilege for me.

'I tell kids to go out there and find one positive thing in their lives. Start small with one pursuit and let it build.'

Bautista was arrested many more times on his way to becoming a WrestleMania champion after taking a job as a bouncer at a nightclub.

'I once went a little bit overboard and kicked two guys in the head. They ended up on the ground with their eyes rolling to the back of their head. I was sh*ting myself they were going to die.

'I was arrested with felony assault with a deadly weapon – mainly my feet. Your foot and boot are literally considered dangerous weapons, just like a knife, a gun or a baseball bat.'

Bautista was sentenced to one year of probation.

Bautista also worked as a bodyguard and says he watched over the likes of Billy Idol, Mark Wahlberg, Jamie Foxx and even controversial filmmaker Michael Moore.

'Moore came into D.C to do a documentary and I was hired to follow him around all day. That was a pretty cool job,' he wrote.

'I got my job because I was built like a brick s**t house. They took one look at me and said, "Well, let's give it a try."'

Family has always been important to the WWE star, who has two daughters from a previous relationship and two grandsons, but his own family life was never easy.

'My grandmother was mean, nasty and abusive. One time she took a big key ring full of keys and threw it at me and hit me in the face with it. Oh yeah, she was a real b***h,' he recalls.

'My father never supported us. He was making a pretty good living and we just lived in a dump. We had nothing. I always felt something was wrong with that. I never felt like I had a father and so I didn't miss him.

'My mother calls herself the black sheep of the family. After she and my father separated, she fell in love with a woman.'

Fortunately, Bautista was able to find an unlikely passion outside violence and crime - break dancing.

While not a pursuit you would associate with a muscle-bound man mountain, Bautista loved to dance.

'I never felt like I fit in at school. I always felt like an oddball, different. When everyone wanted to try out for football, I wanted to be a break-dancer.

'I met a bunch of kids doing it and just got into it. We used to go into D.C. and that's what we'd do all night.

'Some of the moves I made in my entrance with WWE can be traced back to break dancing.

'I discovered amateur wrestling when I was in my junior year at high school. I was pretty big by that age, six two and 185 pounds, and won our junior varsity tournament that year.

'I remember wrestling in high school was about work ethic and how hard you had to work to be good.

'I started lifting weights when I was seventeen and my body really responded. It just blew up. Then my gym offered me a job and I grabbed it. It was my first real job after high school.'

Outside of the gym Bautista developed a passion for women.

And he says his womanizing cost him two marriages.

He shares two daughters with his first wife, Glenda, who he proclaims made his life a nightmare.

He started dating Glenda in 1989 and they were together barely two weeks when she got pregnant.

A lot of what happened has to do with me seeing other women – women became my drug of choice. Some guys want alcohol or whatever; I wanted love. It hurts to talk about that.

'We got married but it's been a nightmare ever since,' he recalls. 'My daughters are the only good thing that came out of that relationship, there's no doubt about that.'

'I know a lot of guys who have had problems with drugs or drinking. It took me a while to realize that I had a similar problem with women.

But following a second divorce in 2006 Bautista confessed to enjoying the perks of being a worldwide star, including partying hard and the mass attention from women.

He was romantically linked with at least three WWE Divas, including Melina Perez, Kelly Kelly and Rosa Mendes.

He wrote of his partying days: 'Ric Flair and I were once in South Caroline strip club and were taken to a VIP section.

'Before we knew it, every stripper in the club had left the stage and came back to be with us in that room. We had a blanket of women hanging all over us. There was no funny business; it was a legal place. But those girls were completely without clothes.

'I once saw a blonde chick sat on Randy Orton's lap in a club and I asked the guy next to me who she was. He said, 'That's my girlfriend' so I told the guy to get his girlfriend and leave or Randy would steal her.

'I felt bad for the guy but also thought the chick was cute myself, so after we sent the girl back to her boyfriend I sent my waitress to get her number and we ended up dating a few times.'

These days Bautista seems to have settled down again and he married Sarah Jade, a competitive pole dancer, earlier this month.

Bautista - whose signature moves included the Batista Bomb and Batista Bite - is a six-time wrestling world champion, winning the World Heavyweight Championship four times and the WWE Championship twice.

But for Bautista - whose giant heavily tattooed body became legendary in the wrestling world - working out and staying in shape came easy while making it as a champion wrestler was hard work.

'There are sacrifices to becoming the champion. You have to work harder and bust your ass in every possible way to fill up every arena,' he wrote.

'Your family takes a hit too because it's hard to be a pro wrestler without stress and strain on your family from emotional injuries.

'After WrestleMania 21 I finally broke down and got prescription painkillers.

'I had never used them before and even now I don't believe in them. I don't want to be one of those guys in the ring with half his wits about him. If I ever become dependent on painkillers, I don't belong in this business.'

After more than a decade in wrestling and after his book was published, Batista left to concentrate on a career in acting and also give it a shot as an MMA fighter.

Bautista won his MMA debut on October 6, 2012, defeating Vince Lucero via TKO in the first round.

In 2012 he starred in The Man with Iron Fists in which he played the villainous Brass Body and starred opposite Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu and appeared in Riddick the following year.

He then played the tattooed alien warrior 'Drax the Destroyer' in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 and will reprise his role in the sequel, set for release in 2017.

And his role as Bond villain Mr. Hinx in the upcoming Spectre movie will surely propel his acting career to another level.
