Comedian Steve Coogan and actress Daisy Lewis have been quietly dating for a couple of months.

And on Thursday, the couple made if official in their first red carpet appearance together at the UNICEF Halloween Ball.

Dorset-raised Daisy looked a perfect gangster's moll in a black slip dress, blonde bob wig and beret with her body spattered in fake blood.

Meanwhile, Steven was a mix of dapper and gruesome in a bloody trouser suit and hat, completing his look with a pair of coloured contact lenses.

The Mail On Sunday was the first to break the news of the new romance earlier this month after revealing Daisy had accompanied Steve as he picked up the Gold Medal of Honorary Patronage at Dublin’s Trinity College in September.

The pair were apparently introduced as a high-profile singles party organised by Jemima Goldsmith, which was also attended by David Walliams, Natalie Imbruglia and Monica Lewinsky.

Jemima may have been the one who invited the new couple to the Halloween Ball as she is one of the charity's UK Ambassadors.

Daisy paid tribute to Steve on his 50th birthday on October 14 by posting a link to an interview with himself on her Twitter page.

She tweeted: 'The enfant terrible comes of age. Happy birthday to an amazing man!'

A few days later, the couple also attended the filming of TFI Friday together.

Although Daisy has appeared a string of shows including Doctor Who and The Lady Vanishes, she is most notable for playing firebrand teacher Sarah Bunting - a love interest for widower Tom Branson in Series 4 and 5 of Downton Abbey.
