Sports Direct probed by competition watchdog over allegations it blocked negative reviews

Regulators are investigating Sports Direct over allegations that it blocked negative reviews of products on its website in an apparent attempt to boost sales. The Competition and Markets Authority is targeting Sports Direct and a handful of other retailers, as part of an investigation launched in June to examine abuse of website reviews. If retailers distort online reviews they are in breach of rules contained in the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 as well as advertising codes.

According to the detailed 2014 annual salaries survey, brokers pocketed around 40 times more this year than those at the bottom of the list - the people responsible for keeping children safe on the way to school. Lollipop crossing patrols earned around £3,400.
