Vicki Gunvalson fought back tears on Sunday as she admitted for the first time that she had been ‘duped’ by ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers and his cancer claims.

The 53-year-old reality star made the stunning admission that she no longer believes he is fighting the disease after months of denials during part three of The Real Housewives of Orange County reunion show.

Vicki told host Andy Cohen and her co-stars that she finally agreed with them that Brooks was not ill - but admitted she had no real proof to back that up.

In the middle: Andy urged the other women to stop and listen to Vicki's honest admission

The admission came about after the women had fought about Brooks and his claims of illness and Tamra Judge asked her what her gut feeling was.

‘My gut is that he does not have it,’ said Vicki quietly.

‘Your gut is that he doesn’t have it? This is very big, you have never said that before,’ Andy clarified.

‘I have seen how he has acted these last two months,’ said Vicki.

‘I would say probably three months ago I really questioned him and said to him ''This is not making sense. Why won’t you give me your reports'' and he kept telling me ''You have no right to take those reports as you will take them to the women''.

‘I said to him that I needed more proof than he was giving me. I need more proof as this is not making sense,' she stated.

Andy then called her out for taking a Xanax before the show and accused her of being ‘disconnected.’

‘I think she is freaking out about what this guy has done to her life and all the relationships that have been messed up. I think she is in a huge state of shock,’ said daughter Briana Culbertson.

’Nobody wants to feel duped or be taken advantage off. I am a smart woman, I fell in love hard and I did have red flags but not to the point of ''Brooks are you faking cancer?'' And he said why would he spend all this time and money getting these treatments if he did not have cancer?

‘It made sense to me. I am sad but I am relieved now knowing that I am not with this man any more.

‘I have got a lot of pieces to pick up a little bit, I learned a lot, and I got duped, I have covered a lot.

‘I am sorry about everything,' she admitted.

She then told her daughter she ‘would never lie’ about Brooks having cancer and Briana told her that she had been manipulated into covering for him.

‘I didn’t know that he didn’t have cancer, that is the answer,’ said Vicki.

‘I am really devastated that I feel like I got taken advantage and duped.

‘I am hurt that I hurt everybody else and I want my girlfriends to respect me and love me. I lost that and I am going to work hard to get that back,’ Vicki promised.

Vicki later told Andy she should have known more about her situation.

‘I am not in a good place, I am really sad. I am sad about not being more detective about what I was in. I kind of put a blind eye on it and hoped it would be truth,' she said.

Off camera Tamra told Vicki that her ‘heart was broken’ as she had known Brooks was bad news when Vicki started dating him.

‘I am never going back to him, he doesn’t deserve me,’ Vicki said as the cameras continued to roll.

‘It’s going to take me a while to get the real Vicki back but I will be back,' she pledged.

At the end of the show Heather Dubrow said that she did not feel Vicki had gone far enough in admitting her own fault and ‘was not satisfied’ with what she had heard.

Shannon admitted she was ‘very disappointed’ in her relationship with Vicki but was in a good place in her own marriage.

Tamra told Andy that she hoped her friendship with Vicki would improve.

Vicki told them all that she hoped she could repair their friendships as she insisted she would not ‘fall back on Brooks.’

‘It is a clean slate, a fresh start, I feel baptized almost. I feel I got the deadweight of me, life is going to be amazing,’ she said dramatically.

Her change in opinion was marked as earlier in the show Vicki had continued her well-worn defense of Brooks, saying that she could not prove if had cancer or was cancer-free.

‘I do not have any proof that he does’t have cancer and he won’t give me enough to prove that he does have cancer,’ she said.

‘That is where I am at. I have been busy with my business, I have been busy with the show. There has to be truth in this stuff.’

Tamra then reminded Vicki how years ago she had told her that someone she was close to had pancreatic cancer, but that it just turned out to be pancreatitis before revealing it was Brooks.

Andy then showed some of his upcoming interview with Brooks who had pulled out of appearing on the show with the women.

Andy asked him directly about the status of his health and if he had cancer.

‘I do, thanks for asking. I have been in treatment - by that I mean chemotherapy and holistic approaches for now going on 11 months. My numbers are normalizing and my lesions in my lymphatic system are now gone,’ he told Andy as the girls in the studio laughed in disbelief.

Candid conversation; Andy asked Brooks straight up questions about his health

Brooks said he had not seen Shannon Beador’s recommended doctor because he had experts of his own.

And he hit back at ex-girlfriends who have accused him of faking cancer in the past.

‘You have two pissed off women whop got a platform to go on a blog and say hurtful things and that is what transpires,’ he said.

Seeking treatment: Brooks said he was undergoing chemotherapy and holistic treatment

Brooks was also challenged about originally telling Briana that he was a pancreatic cancer survivor but later changed his story to having pancreatitis.

‘That is another lie. I never talked to her directly about my cancer, she got that information from Vicki who communicated it wrong,’ he said.

Andy told him that there appeared to be a pattern of using cancer as a means of gaining sympathy.

‘I can’t respond to that, people can think what they want to. The truth is the truth,’ he said.

Meghan Edmonds then told Vicki outright that Brooks was ‘faking’ his illness.

‘I don’t know that, I do not know that,’ said Vicki as Tamra told her to stop protecting Brooks.

Shannon Beador then tried to prove Brooks was lying by providing a copy of her own CT scan from Newport Imaging to compare to the one Brooks and Vicki showed Tamra.

She then showed her report and compared it to the one Brooks used, which appeared very different.

Shannon told her that the doctors would never have signed off on the report relied on by Brooks as Vicki sullenly shook her head.

Andy then asked Brooks why there had been so many contradictions between his story and that given by Vicki.

‘You would have to ask her that, she sometimes tells people what they want to hear or to gain sympathy for us, she misspoke quite a bit,’ he said.

Brooks was then asked if he had anything to say to his chief tormentor, Meghan Edmonds.

‘Yeah, f*** off, how about that?’ he said.

Shannon r took the chance to back Vicki into a corner about the story she told her about getting the help of Heather and her doctor husband Terry when Brooks was sick one night.

Vicki admitted that Ayers had insisted he did not want the Dubrows involved so she never called them, the opposite of what she had told Shannon.

‘I fabricated it because I really was looking for compassion from someone,’ admitted Vicki.

Vicki then was besieged by the other women with Tamra asking her why she had lied over that event.

Andy jumped in and told the women to give her a chance to explain as ‘she was being honest’ with them.

‘She is admitting something and you guys have been accusing her for the whole season,' Andy said.

‘I’m not sure why. I didn't know he was lying but he was getting so quiet-mouthed about including me on everything that I just wanted to say, ''You know what, this is your baby'',’ she said.

‘I’m going to work, I’m going to handle my family. If you have cancer, if you don’t have cancer. And he told me ''I have cancer.''

‘I still believe he has cancer. I have seen him sick,’ Vicki said to moans from the women.

Cold look: Tamra gave Vicki an icy stare as the continued to make excuses

Vicki told the women that she had been to chemotherapy sessions with him, but had waited for him outside the treatment room.

Heather then told Vicki that she believed Brooks must ‘have something’ on her and was possibly blackmailing her.

‘You are too smart for this,’ said Heather.

‘I never knew anything different, I still believed Brooks has cancer,’ she said.

‘Vicki what does he have on you that he is trying to expose?’ Tamra asked her.

Tamra then attacked Vicki saying that for the past three years she had made her ‘look like the biggest piece of s***’ when it came to Brooks.

Real cancer: Meghan started crying when she compared her real cancer loss to Brooks

‘All I wanted to do, with your daughter, was protect you and stop you being manipulated,’ said Tamra.

‘I see that now. I am appreciative of all of you because I understand now,’ said Vicki in a quiet, monotone voice.

Andy then asked Vicki if she was ‘scared’ of Brooks.

She swallowed heavily and nodded without saying anything.

Vicki denied that Brooks had ever been physical with her, which Brianna and Tamra insisted was not true and said they had witnessed it.

‘He was more verbally abusive than physically,’ Vicki told Andy.

Briana then told Andy that she had witnessed Brooks 'physically abuse' her mother and Vicki clarified that Brooks had shaken her.

Briana then said that the night before the show was taped her mother had confided in her that Brooks was still sending her verbally abusive text messages, telling her that she was ‘nothing’ and that he was with other women.

Andy asked Vicki why she had gone to much lengths to protect Brooks.

‘Well there is obviously something that I fear. It was not all bad, we did have our problems but the problems grew greater as the season went on,’ she said.

Tough subject: Andy navigated through the emotional reunion episode

One fan wrote into the show to ask if Vikci might believe her ex-boyfriend because she actually does not want to know the truth.

‘That’s my feeling,’ said Vicki’s daughter Briana Culbertson.

‘Yeah because if he is faking it, I look like an idiot,’ said Vicki.

Meghan Edmonds could not help but get involved at this point and stuck in the knife.

‘You already look like an idiot. I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be rude, but with everything that happened throughout this season and everything that we’re saying, ‘Vicki you lied here, you lied here, you lied here,’ and you still try to defend it,’ said Meghan.

‘I’m sorry but you look like an idiot.’

Gunvalson was still unwilling to admit any wrongdoing over the course of the season.

‘I still don’t know,’ she insisted.
