Tom Cruise seemed agitated as he checked out of his New Orleans hotel on Saturday where he has been shooting his latest film, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.

The 53-year-old looked quite uneasy as he departed the day after a scathing ABC 20/20 interview with former Scientologist, Leah Remini.

The Jerry Maguire star was not his typical jovial self as he quickly made his way to an awaiting car while keeping his head down and stayed concealed in dark aviator shades.

Cruise, a devout member of the Church who's become the public face of the organization, now faces more scrutiny over his commitment to the religion.

Remini grabbed headlines in the bombshell interview where she challenged the church and the actor personally on Friday.

'Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself…you are evil,' she said.

The former King of Queens star blasted Cruise, revealing he is one of the reasons that she severed ties with Scientology in 2013.

Remini, 45, joined the Church as a young girl with her family and spent 30 years within it as she built her Hollywood career.

'As time goes on, you start to lose touch with the real world. The mindset becomes 'Us against them,' she told 20/20.

The Top Gun star has attempted to keep a lower profile regarding his Scientology beliefs in recent years following the backlash he experienced over remarks he made in 2004 in which he said he thought psychiatry should be 'outlawed.' 

Cruise was introduced to Scientology by his first wife Mimi Rogers and in 1990 he renounced his Catholic faith in favor of the teachings by the late science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. 

The actor is reprising his role as Jack Reacher in Never Go Back, a sequel to the 2012 movie based on the character created by author Lee Child.
