Rebel Wilson has slammed the Kardashian family's meteoric rise to fame in a candid live interview conducted on Wednesday morning.

Speaking to KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O, the 35-year old reflected on Kim Kardashian's notorious sex tape sex tape and admitted she refused to present with Kendall and Kylie at the recent VMAs, saying: 'They aren't really about talent.'

'I am all about personality and working hard to get where I am,' she added.

'They aren’t really about talent…How Kim got famous from the sex tape and I just went to acting school and worked really hard.'

Her comments come after she revealed she chose not to present on stage at the Video Music Awards back in August with Kendall, 20, and 18-year old Kylie Jenner.

'I got asked to present with Kendall and Kylie at the latest VMAs but I said "no, I'd rather do it by myself."

'I think I was going to dress up as Kim K if I was going to do that,' she continued. 'I don’t hate them individually but what they stand for is totally different to what I stand for.'

Rebel, who comes from Sydney, is on the rise in Hollywood and has finished filming the upcoming film How To Be Single and will also star in the third instalment of Pitch Perfect.

Conversely The Kardashians and Jenners rose to fame with reality TV show juggernaut Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Kim, who first started out mingling in Hollywood circles after being Paris Hilton's personal assistant, made headlines for a sex tape with American singer and rapper, Ray J, which surfaced in 2007.

It was filmed three years earlier in 2004.

She is now married to Kanye West, and is expecting their second child.

The Kardashians have since gone on to create a powerful empire courtesy of spin-off reality shows, clothing collections, apps, books and a range of beauty products.

They also regularly make headlines for their personal lives and relationships and command millions of followers across social media.
