A few weeks back while viewing Frieze London I was reacquainted with the work of Etel Adnan, a few gallery booths having various paintings.... but anyway, seeing Adnan's paintings in a place like Frieze kept me calm with all that was going on around me. Landscape paintings seem to do this to me but it resinated more from her work, the sweeps of paint, bold and knowing, all simmered down into limited colour palettes but grand and insinuative nonetheless. Just like Caspar David Friedrich's landscapes, I could sit and stare at them for an unquestionable amount of time.
