That's 00-heaven! Daniel Craig 'on track to become best paid James Bond ever'... as Spectre surpasses past franchise success

He may seem reluctant to sign on for another film, but his pay packet should be able to persuade him otherwise.

Following the Box Office success of his fifth film, Spectre, Daniel Craig has been named James Bond's best paid action hero ever.

The International Business Times reports that the 42-year-old walked away with $39m (£25.4m), despite Spectre going grossly over budget

On its opening day, the film broke UK box office records with £6.3m ($9.5M), compared to Skyfall’s £6.2M ($9.3M) on the same day in 2012.

The film is currently on target to make £6.6B ($1B) worldwide, though it would need to beat £7.2B ($1.1B) to surpass Skyfall.

Regardless, Daniel's films would still be No1 and No2 in the franchise's history; justifying his top spot as biggest earner.

It's previously been reported that Daniel's predecessor Pierce Brosnan wanted £13M ($20M) to film Bond 21, Casino Royale, in which Layer Cake star Daniel went onto steal the limelight.

The most he ever got - topping Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough - was £10.9M ($16.5M) for Die Another Day, according to fansite M16 Community.

The films, which have been produced every four years since 1963's Doctor No, is now on the approach to its 25th incarnation, Bond 25.

Though it's safe to say that Daniel's enthusiasm, after 10 years and four films, could be improved with regards to his future with the franchise.

In one of his most recent interviews, Daniel told Time Out: 'The Bond bank is dry. If you’re asking me what would I do with another Bond movie? I haven’t a clue. Go into space? Let’s do it! They already did it. Let’s do it again.'

And, toying with the idea of his replacement, he added about what makes a good Bond: 'It’s a struggle. I know that how Bond wears a suit and walks into a room is important. But as an actor I don’t want to give a f*** about what I look like!

'So I have to play with both things. In a way that works, as that’s Bond: he looks good and he doesn’t give a f*** what you think he looks like!’
