Amy Schumer took discomfort to a whole new level at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards in New York City.

The 34-year-old comedienne managed to survive the evening despite the body-crushing Spanx and the toe-scrunching high heels.

It all became too noticeable when Amy crouched on her heels beneath the podium on stage during her opening act and in front of a starstruck live audience no doubt.

As she was squatting, the hem of her red dress hiked up her leg and exposed a pair of Spanx Skinny Britches.

Ouch: Amy's tootsies looked squished

While the undergarment is the must-have among ladies at all the red carpet events for smoothing those unwanted bumps and bulges, they aren't terribly comfortable.

Amy's Spanx secret was out as she feigned a shocked expression with hands raised.

The star's five-inch heels looked unbearably too tight for her feet as she walked the arrivals line.

Upon closer inspection, Amy's painted toes were squashed in together and her feet seemed to wobble a bit while bound by the crisscrossing red straps.

Amy braved the walk with a dimpled smile, however, showing what a trooper she really is.

She didn't even mind that Selena Gomez was clad in the same shade of scarlet that she was wearing to the fashion and beauty magazine's annual bash.

Amy and Selena seemed to have a good laugh over the faux pas, hugging and smiling for the cameras.

Red was the colour of the night at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards and it wasn't just the carpet.

Not only did Victoria Beckham wear a scarlet gown from her Resort 2016 collection but Selena Gomez and Amy Schumer also opted for crimson at the event in New York last night. While Selena rocked Valentino, Amy went for Alexander McQueen.
