Hey girl, it's my birthday! Ryan Gosling celebrates turning 35 with a solo outing to premiere of his film The Big Short

It's surely not his ideal way to spend his birthday.

But Ryan Gosling has his game face on as he left his young family at home to celebrate his 35th birthday on the red carpet in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The actor was without his long-term partner Eva Mendes, who no doubt was with their baby daughter Esmeralda.

But an uncomplaining Ryan smiled for the cameras, as he dressed up in a navy blue suit to promote The Big Short.

The Notebook star kept a hand in his pocket, as he struck a casual pose.

Joining Ryan at the premiere were a host of co-stars, including Christian Bale and Steve Carrell.

The film is based off the 2010 best-selling book by Michael Lewis, known for writing Moneyball and The Blindside, about the housing and credit bubble titled The Big Short: Inside The Doomsday Machine.

There is not only A-list male talent in the film as actresses Melissa Leo, Marisa Tomei, Selena Gomez and Karen Gillan are also featured despite not appearing in the trailer.

Adam McKay, known for his work on Stepbrothers and the Anchorman films, is the director of the flick. The Big Short is set for a Christmas Day release in the US.
