The pictures are clear enough to pick out individual faces in the crowd, some of whom were among the 89 victims slaughtered at the Bataclan Concert Hall in a night of terror in Paris on Friday. Some fans can been seen making the horn hand gesture that is popular within the heavy metal culture. Others are smiling for the camera, raising their glasses or simply enjoying the music. The pictures are understood to have been taken just a few minutes before three gunmen burst into the venue at 9.40pm (8.40pm GMT) as the Californian band Eagles Of Death Metal (top right) were launching into one of their favourites, Kiss The Devil. Some thought they were part of the spectacle. But it quickly became a scene of horror as the militants mercilessly gunned down their victims one by one, even targeting people in wheelchairs. Shocking pictures later emerged showing bodies littered across the floor) bottom right) where those happy fans had once stood.

On the street below huge numbers of police in balaclavas carrying machine guns surrounded the top floor flat and witnesses heard several bangs and small explosions during the two-hour armed stand-off. The Molenbeek mayor said today the siege ended with without any injuries. A hooded man was handcuffed and put in a car by plain-clothes police - the Belgian media claimed this man was Salah Abdeslam but the authorities have not confirmed this. Abdelsam has been the subject of a vast international manhunt but incredibly he was stopped and then released by French police guarding the Belgian border hours after the attacks.

Two men and two women died when the six-seater plane came down into a field near Churchinford, Somerset.  The aircraft was heading from the Surrey area towards Dunkeswell Aerodrome, an airfield in east Devon, when it crashed at around 11.45pm yesterday (Saturday).  Police confirmed officers were called to the scene, alongside crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and South Western Ambulance Service.  The fire service sent 27 staff - in three fire appliances and three specialist vehicles - while the ambulance service dispatched two ambulances and a Hazardous Area Response Team.  The Exeter-based Devon Air Ambulance and the National Police Air Service helicopter also attended.
