'My financial situation is not great': Charlie Sheen 'to sell two of his three Beverly Hill mansions' after paying $10 million in 'shakedowns' to keep HIV secret

Charlie Sheen plans to sell two of his three Beverly Hills mansions, it has emerged after the actor went public with his HIV-positive status on Tuesday.

The former Two And A Half Men star plans to list two of his homes in the exclusive Mulholland Estates gated community,Variety reports.

On Tuesday, the actor admitted to The Today Show host Matt Lauer that his financial situation was 'not great' after paying out more than $10 million in the past few years to blackmailers in an attempt to keep his HIV status secret.

Now, the 50-year-old star is reportedly selling two homes: a 6,625-square-foot, five bedroom Spanish Villa-style home he bought in 2012 for $4.8 million, and a 9020-square-foot, six-bedroom mansion he bought for $6,999,999 in 2011.

He plans to keep his third Beverly Hills home, a 7,924-square-foot mansion which he purchased for $7.2 million in 2006, Variety reports.

On Tuesday, Charlie confirmed reports that he is HIV-positive, revealing he was diagnosed four years ago and had been paying out millions to former sexual partners and confidants who threatened to reveal his secret.

However, the hard-partying star said he always informed his many sexual partners, including porn stars and prostitutes, of his HIV status. He said he had had unprotected sex with two women, but that they knew of his condition and were under the care of his doctor.

Charlie's ex-wife Denise Richards and their daughters Sam, Lola and her daughter Eloise have been living in the second home while her own property is being renovated, Variety reports.

The actor intends to keep a third, 792-square-foot home he bought for $7.2 million in 2006.

Mulholland Estates is a high-end gated community, making it a popular address for celebrities, including British singer Robbie Williams, pop star Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton.

At the height of his Two And A Half Men success, Charlie was the highest-paid actor on television, earning $1.9 million per episode.

However, he was fired from the show after his public meltdown in 2011. 

On Tuesday, the actor said he has spent years paying off people who know of his HIV-status and extorted him in exchange for their silence.

'Enough to bring it into the millions,' he said. 'And what people forget is that's money they're taking from my children. They think it's just me, but I've got five kids and a granddaughter.'

'We're talking about shakedowns,' he said, confirming that one case involved a prostitute who took photos of his medication and threatened to sell the images to the media.

Charlie also said he expects future lawsuits from his past sexual partners, although he insisted he told all of them about of his HIV status. In fact, he says this honestly is what led to his financial problems.

'Having divulged it is the reason I am in the mess that I'm in, with all the shakedowns,' he said.

Later Matt asked 'You talk about all the shakedowns and you've told me it's upwards of ten millions over the last several years...what's your financial situation now?'

'It's not great. My financial situation is not great,' answered Charlie.

'It'll be great again. I'm a survivor. I've been up I've been down, I've been rich, I've been poor,' he said.

'It's another chapter of my life, it's not commerce driven, it's socially driven.'
