She has been blazing the promotional trail in a whirlwind of high-profile performances and high-fashion gowns, since her long-awaited return to the music scene late last month.

So Adele is no doubt eager to tone down the glamour whenever she has a chance, as shown when she stepped out in New York on Monday evening sporting trainers and an oversized coat.

The 27-year-old hitmaker was taking an evening to relax before the release of When We Were Young - the latest track from her forthcoming third record, 25.

The final dressed-down touch to the look was a pair of monochrome Converse trainers which added a truly casual feel to the ensemble.

Despite her low-key look, Adele's hair and make-up were completely flawless - the remnants of her uber-glam look earlier in the day, when she looked sensational in a flattering black dress, while heading to a radio appearance at SiriusXM.

After teasing the track on Instagram, following the filming of a live special with Australian TV show 60 minutes, Adele opted to release the song in its entirety on her website on Tuesday.

In her Instagram teaser, she gives the performance her all, putting her usual emotional spin on the lyrics: 'Oh, I'm so mad I'm getting old - it makes me reckless.

'It was just like a movie. It was just like a song when we were young.'

He told Rolling Stone: 'It's impossible to question why she's where she is once you sit down with her to write a song.

'She was the first introduction I had to somebody who could sing words on the spot that were actually great.'

The first release from the album, Hello, has been described as a 'make-up anthem' to the elusive ex she sang about on world mega-hit 21, shot straight to number one in the UK charts, where it has remained ever since.
