Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, 25, has been crowned 'the leading movie star of her generation'. She is also the highest paid actress in the world according to Forbes magazine

Jennifer Lawrence has been ranked the most valuable film star in the world in a list which said she was 'dominating' Hollywood.

The Oscar-winning actress came top for the second year in a row and was crowned 'the leading movie star of her generation'.

Vulture.com said that the star of the Hunger Games franchise has an 'unimpeachable' box office record after it took in over £2billion worldwide so far.

Lawrence's star has risen quickly since her breakthrough hit with the drama Winter's Bone in 2010.

According to Forbes magazine the 25-year-old is now highest paid actress in the world and raked in £34 million last year.

Vulture.com compiled its list based on US and world box office takes, social-media buzz, critical respect, and likability scores.

In second place was Robert Downey Jr who has starred in three of the 10 highest grossing films of all time in his role as Iron Man.

The editors said that he needed to broaden out beyond the Marvel character if he wanted to unseat Lawrence, even though he earned more than her.

In third place on the list was Leonardo DiCaprio followed by Bradley Cooper, Dwayne Johnson and Tom Cruise.

Angelina Jolie slipped from 6th place to 17th because she did not make a big film, but was propped up because she was the 'most discussed' on social media because of her health issues.

Rounding out the top 10 was Hugh Jackman in 7th, Sandra Bullock in 8th, Channing Tatum in 9th and Scarlett Johansson in 10th.

The biggest rise on the list was Christ Pratt, who rose 57 places to no.11 after appearing in Jurassic World and the sci-fi adventure Guardians of the Galaxy.

He also topped 'most likeable' rankings.

The three most 'critically respected' on the list were Ben Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix and comedian Amy Schumer.
