She regularly pays tribute to him as one of the most supportive influences in her life.

But Bindi Irwin's teenage boyfriend Chandler Powell has reportedly grown insecure of their relationship, fearing she may leave him for Hollywood after finding fame in the U.S.

The 19-year-old is said to have become jealous of the close bond Bindi, 17, shares with her partner Derek Hough and is apparently afraid of being cast aside as his girlfriend's star continues to rise.

A source told Woman's Day that despite accompanying Bindi to rehearsals and nursing her injuries, the wake-boarder from Florida is 'worried' he may lose her to Hollywood's bright lights.

'He says he can't compete with guys like Derek. Poor Chandler is feeling very insecure - and there seems to be nothing Bindi can do about it,' they said.

'She tries to reassure him, but he's convinced she's going to dump him,' the source added.

Yesterday however Bindi appeared as in love as ever with her American beau, posting a gushing tribute to Chandler on Instagram to celebrate his birthday.

'Happy birthday to a person who inspires me every day. A soul who makes me smile no matter where I am in the world, despite any amount of distance,' she wrote alongside a black and white photograph of the pair.

'Thank you for the endless hugs, late night conversations about life, holding my hand when a loud noise scares me and laughing along with all of my bindi moments,' she gushed.

And while Bindi has held nothing back in her praise for Hough, it seems the pair share a more platonic bond.

Thanking him for his support earlier this week, Bindi said: 'No matter what happens @derekhough manages to make every day in the studio fun.

'Even when I'm super tired he gives me strength and encourages me to keep trying my best and always believe.

'You're the greatest big brother I could ever ask for.'
