Just in time for Christmas? David Letterman is spotted in New York sporting a lustrous white Santa beard and a far cry from his former clean-shaven self
- The 68-year-old retired as host of CBS' Late Show in May
- Letterman was spotted in New York with a long beard that makes him look a bit like Santa Claus
- Letterman is set to travel to India next year to work on the National Geographic documentary series Years of Living Dangerously
Ever since retiring from CBS' Late Show, David Letterman is sporting a more relaxed Santa Claus inspired look.
Letterman was spotted in New York arriving back at his apartment with his son 11-year-old Harry and a friend on Saturday. The former late night king was wearing a beanie with a flag depicting the state of California along with casual attire and a full-on white beard.
Letterman was also seen in New York back in September with his casual look on display but it appears as though his beard may have gotten ever longer since then.
While Letterman sometimes sported a beard in his 33 years on air, he always kept it short and neat for TV. But in retirement, it seems that Letterman has not been as diligent with his trimmer.

While Letterman has barely started his retirement, it seems he is already antsy to get back to work.
In September, it was announced that Letterman would be appearing on the National Geographic channel's documentary series 'Years of Living Dangerously'.
Letterman will reportedly be traveling to India sometime next year to see how climate change is impacting the country for the series.
David Gelber and Joel Bach, the series' producers, told Variety that they reached out to Letterman because he always showed an interest in profiling the issues of climate change on the Late Show.
'You could just tell. Whenever they would have a climate discussion, he would really kind of perk up,' Bach said, 'And it turns out he does, he cares about it a lot. He’s definitely invested in this issue.'
The documentary series will be Letterman's first project since retiring from the Late Show.
