Cate Blanchett as you've never seen her before! Chameleon actress transforms into a homeless man and a newsreader in new art project by Julian Rosefeldt

Cate Blanchett is known for her chameleon like transformations across a number of films.

Now, the Oscar winning actress is taking it one step further as she appears in an art project as a homeless man...and a newsreader, school teacher, factory worker, ballet mistress and rock chick.

The exhibition, titled Manifesto, is by Berlin-based artist Julian Rosefeldt which will be opening at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in December.

Appearing in thirteen different monologues that 'questions the role of the artist in society today', Cate is most unrecognisable as a bearded homeless man.

With sparse wavy hair sticking out from underneath a chunky grey knit beanie the actress had make-up to add dust and grime across her face.

The fakery was also used to create a scar across the bridge of her nose, which seems to have been widened with a prosthetic.

Wearing a flannelette shirt with multiple jackets over the top to stay warm, the image appears on the cover of Monopol - a German magazine.

In another image, also featured across the front of the publication, the normally blonde beauty dons a flame-haired wig to play the role of a TV news anchor.

Sporting a contrasting purple blazer against a blue backdrop the actress looked preened to perfection with glossy pink lips.

The clean-cut look is a stark contrast to the heavy eye make-up and short black hair rocked in another image.

Looking like fellow Australian actress Ruby Rose, the star of the upcoming film Carol looked pensively at the camera with a silver knot ring near her lips.

In the final of the four promotional magazine covers, the Elizabeth star looks like an older ballet mistress, with a turban over her hair and intense make-up to highlight her bone structure.

Dressed in all black, the actress's maroon lips are a real stand out, which have been obviously lined around the outside of lips.

The video and stills project was shot in Berlin last December and will open in Australia next month in Melbourne, running till next March.
