Keanu Reeves was back on set of John Wick 2 on Monday and it looks like fans are in for a treat.

The 51-year-old actor got into character as the vengeful assassin to make mince meat of his enemies wearing a sharp suit and showing off some impressive martial arts moves.

As cameras rolled Keanu was pictured with bloody scrapes on his face as he faced down his attackers on the streets of Chinatown, New York.

While the movie star had the help of a stunt double for some of the trickier moves, it's clear Keanu's combat training his Matrix franchise came in rather handy.

Keanu was seen coming face-to-face with two of his attackers in a dimly lit alleyway but looked ready for combat as he stood in a fighting stance.

During a break in-between scenes Keanu stopped to review some footage with director Chad Stahelski.

In another sinister scene the actor was pictured being followed by two men as he left a grocery store in the district.

The sequel to the 2014 hit - which grossed $130.9 million worldwide - is due for release sometime in 2016 and also stars Bridget Moynahan, Ruby Rose and Peter Storemare.

The plot details for the second installment have been kept under wraps but the first flick followed the legendary assassin coming out of retirement to seek revenge on a group of gangsters who took away some of his prized possessions.

Aussie beauty Rose, 29, is thought to be playing a crime boss in the flick but details of her role have not yet been confirmed.
