Her love life has become as intriguing as some of the Hollywood movies she's starred in.

But Kate Hudson – who broke off her engagement to Matt Bellamy last year – has revealed that despite not living like a ‘traditional family’, she believes it’s better to raise children in a ‘happy' and an 'effective' home.

In the December/January issue of Harper's Bazaar, the 36-year-old confessed: ‘It’s hard to let go of something, even when you know that it’s not right.

Pretty in pink and black: The 36-year-old beauty, who is promoting Rock The Kasbah, talked about how her previous relationships didn't work out because you can't force them to

‘If something’s not right, I don’t believe in maintaining something for the sake of what’s considered a traditional family, because I believe that there are different ways to raise children,’ she added. ‘It’s far more effective to raise children in happy homes.’

The daughter of Goldie Hawn – who has also dated rock star Chris Robinson and major movie star Owen Wilson – explained it's not her fault that none of these relationships has worked out.

Hudson added that she is currently single, and the Almost Famous star is just fine with that.

'It's nice to get acquainted with myself alone,' she said.

The blonde beauty also talked how hard it is to be away from her two sons. She has 11-year-old Ryder and Bingham, aged four.

Makes sense: The Malibu native explained that it's not her fault that none of these relationships have worked out. 'The goal when you get into a relationship is not to be out of the relationship. It's to try to stay in the relationship. But if it doesn't work, you can't force things'

'I think a lot of people, especially when you're a woman, you have kids, and work on movies, it's hard because you're away from them,' the Bride Wars star said.

'There's nothing lazy about it. You go to work, get on the first plane home even if it's for eight hours, go back to work. I don't want to be away from my family, I love it so much. I just enjoy being on movie sets.'

Hudson is more successful now than she was a decade ago.

Not only is she making movies back to back - she is not only in Rock The Kasbah, but also voiced a character for Kung Fu Panda 3 and has costarred with Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts in Mother's Day - but she runs an athletic apparel company.

She next will shoot Lee Daniels' film, Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?, playing Pryor's wife Jennifer Lee, and in February she comes out with a health book.

Then there are her constant workouts, which includes training for a triathlon.

'It's about pushing yourself. Making a choice. It sort of becomes a metaphor for everything else,' the silver screen vet said.

In the magazine, Kate was photographed by Terry Richardson and showed off her yoga toned body.

In another shot she does a handstand in a skintight black, white and yellow-printed Christian Dior fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear jumpsuit.

Then she looks movie star glam in a sparkling red, fringed Balmain mini dress.

Harper's Bazaar's December 2015/January 2016 issue is out on newsstands on November 24.
