Cate Blanchett goes for a futuristic up do and daring lace dress as she is honoured at MOMA film gala
Cate Blanchett was the woman of the moment at a special evening gala in New York City on Tuesday night.
The Australian star was feted by a host of famous names at the eighth annual film benefit hosted by the Museum Of Modern Art or MOMA.
The Oscar winner, 46, headlined the event wearing a black crepe dress gathered at the bodice and with an uneven hem.

In announcing the tribute back in August, MOMA said its department of film was 'thrilled to honor a woman who embodies the greatest traditions of screen acting, while fiercely embracing innovation and risk.'
'Cate Blanchett has the kind of talent that inspires others to deliver their best work, challenges the field to be more fully engaged with women artists and audiences and propels cinema forward with intelligence and grace,' the statement continued.

On hand to celebrate the star was filmmaker Martin Scorsese who directed her in The Aviator, her Carol co-star Rooney Mara and British actor Ralph Fiennes with whom she starred in the 1997 romantic drama Oscar And Lucinda.
Also on the guest list were actresses Sarah Paulson, who also has a part in the film Carol, Diane Kruger, Jane Krakowski and Carson Meyer.
Model Lily Donaldson showed up as did Anna Wintour's daughter Bee Shaffer.

Mara, 30, mirrored BLanchett's look with a similar black outfit that had a solid body with a transparent patterned skirt and a gauzy panel between the shoulder straps and the black lacy collar.

Paulson opted for a long-sleeved dusky rose embroidered mini dress with a high collar.
The American Horror Story stalwart had her bobbed hair blown out and added a splash of lip color the same shade as the embroidered roses that adorned both shoulders.
Donaldson, 28, wore a classic black pant suit with skinny leggings and a cropped jacket.
The British model went shirtless. showing off a bare chest and a flash of cleavage, and she accessorized with a stunning silver serpent brooch on her left shoulder.

With her was her boyfriend, actor Bobby Cannavale, with whom she's expecting her first child.
