He's recently wrapped up filming for the new Tarzan movie.

So it was time for some R&R for Alexander Skarsgard, 39, as he was spotted on the beach in Mexico recently.

The Swedish heartthrob flashed his sculpted physique as he lifted off his grey T-shirt to go shirtless for his sunbathing session.

The True Blood actor styled his casual piece with floral-print shorts, displaying his calf tattoo of a green bird.

He continued the laid-back look with a pair of pool sliders, his strawberry blonde locks looking free of any product.

Surrounded by loungers with the sand by his feet, the actor couldn't have looked more at ease soaking up the sun.

His girlfriend - model/TV presenter Alexa Chung, 31 - was not spotted with him for his relaxed day out in Mexico. 

The pair are rumoured to have started dating in February this year but have kept quiet about their romance.

Alexander's low-key beach outing comes after he finished filming the David Yates-directed movie, in which he plays the titular role.

The movie sees Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.

It features a stellar cast including Margot Robbie (Jane Porter), Christoph Waltz (Captain Rom) and Samuel L. Jackson (George Washington Williams).

The flick is slated for a 1 July 2016 release in the US, followed by a UK release the week after.
