Apple's Jimmy Iovine apologizes over sexist comments that women find it difficult to choose music 'when they have their hearts broken by boys'

Jimmy Iovine has apologized after making a series of sexist comments about women who have had their hearts broken.
The 62-year-old, who was discussing Apple Music's latest advert, said he 'always knew' women found it difficult at times and added that they might need help making music playlists in certain situations.
Speaking yesterday on CBS' This Morning, he said: 'Girls are sitting around talking about boys or complaining about boys when they have their heart broken or whatever.

'And they need music for that, right? It's hard to find the right music.'
The Apple executive, who was making his debut appearance on the show, was slammed after the interview, with social media users labelling the comments 'stupid'.
@NekoCase wrote on Twitter: 'Dear Men, and I am completely serious... I don't think you think things as stupid as Jimmy Iovine says.'
Another user, known only as Sizemore, added: 'If you go into the gender settings in iTunes and click GIRL a small digital Jimmy Iovine appears holding a boombox over his head playing U2.'

But the show's host Gayle King came to Iovine‘s defence, writing on Twitter: 'C'mon ppl! Plz listen to full @cbsthismorning intvu w/ #JimmyIovine.
'Women&music comments totally taken out of context Not fair to him' (sic).
Iovine issued a statement after the interview and clarified that Apple Music had been made for everyone.
He said: 'We created Apple Music to make finding the right music easier for everyone — men and women, young and old.
'Our new ad focuses on women, which is why I answered the way I did, but of course the same applies equally for men. I could have chosen my words better, and I apologize.'
