EXCLUSIVE: 'It's a horrible psychological disorder!' Bridget Malcolm SLAMS followers who accused her of being anorexic... as she encourages women to 'support' each other

She received backlash off body shamers last week after she uploaded an image of herself wearing a yellow two-piece bikini.

And on Saturday model Bridget Malcolm hit back at the haters who labelled her as 'anorexic'.

'It is a horrible psychological disorder men and women have to go through,' she told the Daily Mail Australia while adding women should be supporting one another not spreading hurtful statements.

The 23-year-old explained that she confronted the sensitive topic on Instagram because it was hurtful and 'not the truth'.

'I usually try and ignore it [negative comments] because I have no control over how people will react to me,' she said while adding 'it's so wrong' how individuals think they can get away from online trolling.

'People who make that [being skinny] a problem should be called out....Women shouldn't be tearing each other down we should be supporting each other.

'I work hard, I eat well and I want to show people how healthy and happy I am.'

The former Perth resident went on to explain to DMA that body shaming happens no matter what body type because 'there are girls who get hated on for their curves and then there are girls who get hated on because they are skinnier,' before labelling it as simply 'ridiculous'. 

With social media becoming a tool that is used daily, Bridget said it scares her to think 'just how powerful it is' but she tries to use the applications to be a role model for those who click to follower her.

'Social media has become such an essential focus to so many girls…for me it is important because I want girls and guys to see that I work hard to look the way I do and that I am not unhealthy with it,' she said.

The Australian beauty added: 'It give models a voice…it is normally you are a face of something and no one knows the person behind the picture but with social media you really have the chance to be an actual role model.'

Bridget, who is currently in Australia for business, said the concept of fitness is also 'an important part of my job' and that she wishing people would remember that when spreading hurtful lies.

'For me fitness is an important part of my job,' she said while explaining: 'I find that the fitter I am, the better I am at my job and the happier I am.'

When asked how she keeps in shape the stunner explained that she never really 'gets out of shape' so it is easier for her to maintain her bikini clad figure.

'For me it is hard to put on muscle in general so I put in a lot of effort for toning exercises,' the Vegan dieter said while explaining it includes boxing classes and Pilates.
