EXCLUSIVE 'I wasn't in shape:' Bridget Malcolm reveals she was rejected TWICE by Victoria's Secret bosses before making her debut on the runway show

She debuted on the Victoria's Secret runway earlier in the month alongside fellow newcomers Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

And while speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Saturday Bridget Malcolm revealed she was rejected twice by the lingerie brand before being picked in October, along with what really goes on behind the scenes.

'This was the third year I cast for the show...The first two years I was turned away,' she said while explaining: 'The first year was because I wasn’t in good enough shape and the second year I was confident enough to pull it off.'

The 23-year-old added that she believes her figure wasn't in shape because she only 'went to the gym once before the casting' and wasn't aware of the commitment that was needed.

'I can take that sort of criticism,' she said when asked if she was hurt for being cut from the line-up for the way her body look.

'I am a model and the way I look is my career and when it is coming from my agents and people at VS, I can take that as advice.'

The catwalk stunner added that following the incident she knew what was needed to be done and was 'more than willing to work towards it to achieve it.'

But as the weeks quickly go by and another annual VS runway show dies off to the distance, Bridget said she still can't believe she was able to share the priceless moment alongside fellow Aussie Shanina Shaik.

'I have been working towards that show ever since I became aware of what it was and I am still pinching myself like "oh my god I actually did it",' she described.

While the world sees numerous glamorous items being strutted up and down the catwalk, the model reveals the show backstage is just like a 'party'.

'There is a lot of energy backstage, there are a lot of girls and a lot of wings, but there is never any stressed energy,' she told DMA.

'Everyone is doing their thing and everyone is so excites and there is a lot of dancing and singing and hugging and blowing kisses,' she laughed.

Bridget went on to explain that the bond between all of the VS models was like a 'sisterhood' and 'none of them were intimidating or bitchy'.

'The girls were so, so lovely, they were all so nice and welcoming and fun. It is just a really nice sister affair,' she said as she thought back to her big day.

But despite the blonde stunner already walking in endless amount of runway events for international designers, she said the VS show is like no other.

'It was super exciting everything about it is just bigger. With VS the music is blaring, there are lights and there are people everywhere cheering and dancing on the stage,' she described.

'It was just amazing. I was just able to smile and laugh and do exactly what I wanted to do which is great, I really enjoyed it.'
