She's one of the most recognisable stars in the world.

But in a bid to dupe nine of her biggest fans, Adele underwent a major transformation for Friday's Adele at the BBC special.

The Hello hitmaker wore a wig and prosthetic nose and chin for a hilarious sketch which sees her go undercover to impersonate herself as singer 'Jenny', at an audition for a fictitious pilot programme at Wimbledon Theatre.

Up against nine genuine Adele impersonators, viewers will be left laughing out loud as they watch to see if the real Adele can pull it off.

During the hour-long special hosted by Graham Norton, Adele performs a mix of old hits and new tracks from her latest album 25, as well as opening up to the presenter about her personal life. 

The talented singer has confessed that welcoming her son Angelo into the world had a profound impact on her, how she saw herself and the world around them.

Speaking to the programme's host Graham Norton, she said: 'It's changed me completely, in every single way possible and something much bigger than myself happened, and I had been craving that without realising.

'I was always yearning for something and I never knew what it was.'

She continued, of her three-year-old boy: 'He makes me realise everything about myself that I like and I don't like.'

Adele, who rarely speaks so openly about her child and long-term boyfriend and her son's father Simon Konecki, also confessed that she understands things will be very different for him as he grows up.

'I think we [Simon and I] are doing a great job and I think we will do a great job. I'm very conscious of how much my life has changed and how much his childhood will be different to mine, but I haven't changed.'

The BBC special coincides with the release of 25, which is unleashed on the eagerly-awaiting world on Friday.

The record follows in the footsteps of its debut single Hello, a game-changer of a song that has thus far smashed plenty of records since its release in late October.

But, for all the love she receives worldwide and all the praise she gets following her first two albums - 19 and 21 - Adele admitted during the interview that she had doubted whether she could be a success a third time around. 

Adele at the BBC airs Friday night on BBC One at 8.30pm.
