Martin Skrtel takes to judge's chair for talent show Superstar... but was the Liverpool star preparing for a new career?

Martin Skrtel is usually the one being judged but it appears he could be preparing for a career in the reverse role after making a surprise appearance on a talent show.

The Liverpool defender is currently preparing for Slovakia's friendly match with Iceland on Tuesday but took time away from the preparations to appear on Czech and Slovak talent show Superstar.

Ahead of Tuesday's clash, the centre back took to the judge's chair at the show's Barrandov Studios in Prague, Czech Republic - but only to pose for a couple of snaps.

Superstar, which is based on the British show Pop Idol, invited the Liverpool star to cast an eye over the talent on show and the defender made sure he grabbed a keepsake.

Skrtel posted a couple of photographs on his official Instagram page after posing for several snaps with the Superstar judges and other guests.

In one picture, Slovakian musician Pavol Habera, professional ice hockey player Jan Lasak and Eurovision 2015 contestant Marta Jandova posed for a photo.

He captioned the post: 'SK&CZ SUPERSTAR...thank you @pavolhabera for invitation,we've enjoyed the night! @lasica025 @baraskrtel @simon_ell @jankablahovka @marta.jandova @klara.vytiskova #superstar2015 #m37s #prague #palohaberalegenda.'

Skrtel was enjoying a much deserved break after helping Slovakia secure a 3-2 friendly win over Switzerland

He then followed up the post with another snap - where he posed alongside Habera and Lasak - and wrote: '..one more from tonight with @pavolhabera and @lasica025 #judges #janolasak #palohabera #2legendy #hokej #spev.'

Skrtel was enjoying a much deserved break after helping Slovakia secure a 3-2 friendly victory over Switzerland at the Stadion Antona Malatinskeho on Friday. 

Michal Duris' double and Robert Mak's second-half goal put the hosts in control but strikes from Eren Derdiyok and Josip Drmic made for a nervy final 20 minutes for Skrtel and his team-mates.
