Obviously taking pains to put her best foot forward in all respects on the special evening, the Oscar-winning actress exuded an understated glamour in an all-black ensemble.

Donning a black semi-sheer ribbed top, which featured lattice design on the stomach and arms, the Australia actress flashed a hint of her black bra.

Subtly highlighting her lithe legs, Nicole teamed her top with a layered midi dress that featured a fringed hem and pleated detailing.

The Moulin Rouge! star accentuated her pins further by rounding her outfit off with a pair of towering peep-toe stilettos.

Opting for the age-old adage of less is more, Nicole chose to accessorise her look with just a simple yet elegant gold-chained gemstone pendant and a handful of rings.

The actress, who is married to country star Keith Urban, wore her golden locks in a perfectly coiffed side-swept style which tumbled down to her shoulders in gentle waves.

Celebrating the evening's success with the actress was Project 51's director, Michael Grandage, whose company has been behind Nicole's critically acclaimed performance .

Nicole plays Rosalind Franklin - the woman who cracked DNA - and marks her first West End role since the 1998 production of David Hare's play The Blue Room at the Donmar Warehouse.

Her latest stage stint has garnered sparkling reviews with theatre critics branding her performance 'brilliant', 'intelligent' and 'commanding'.
