Suzanne, who has a daughter called Olivia, said: 'I struggled with my weight all my life - there were so many diets I tried but nothing stuck.

'I had actually booked a consultation for a gastric bypass. I was at an all-time low, I was going to have to do something drastic.

'But I decided to give Ketogenic a shot. I did my research and I cancelled the appointment with the surgeon and started my new lifestyle on January 13.'

The high-fat diet requires those who embark on it to incorporate 75 per cent fat, 20 per cent protein and five per cent carbohydrates into their daily food intake.

The mother-of-one said that the diet drilled down to her own personal problem - sugar.

'I used to eat a lot of cakes and drink a lot of fizzy drinks,' she admitted. 'The first few weeks were tough but once I cut it out I had so much energy to play and run around with my daughter.

'I feel so much better, I haven't had cakes or sugar since I started - it's not a diet or a fad, it's a lifestyle.'

I don't have that hungry feeling because eating higher fat keeps you satisfied. It's not like sugar crashes

As well as avoiding sugary treats, Suzanne cut back on carbs such as pasta and potatoes and filled up on meat and vegetables instead.

She said that one of her favourite dishes was chicken with goats cheese and lemon butter sauce.

She added: 'The most amazing thing is you aren't depriving yourself of food. I eat fatty meats, dairy, cheese and bacon.

Suzanne's weight battle began in when she was a child, after her parents divorced and she turned to food for comfort.

She said: 'Food become my way of coping, but it led to being sadder and more overweight - it was a cycle.

Suzanne says her new lifestyle

Before and after: Suzanne said she thought she was happy before losing weight 'but then I realised it was actually contributing to being sad. I don't need food to make me happy'

'I thought it was a comfort but then I realised it was actually contributing to being sad. I don't need food to make me happy.'

Suzanne shared her inspiring transformation on her blog: Keto Karma.

She also convinced her husband Mick, 34, to get involved and he has lost 70lb (5st) since April on the same diet.

Suzanne added: 'I was desperate to get out there and tell others it was possible.

'I wanted people to know you don't have to spend money on products or struggle on ridiculous diets.

'I was hoping it would touch one person, but I have been blown away by the response.'
