Angelina Jolie asked to tone down sex and violence in biopic of conservationist Richard Leakey but there's worries leading man Brad Pitt 'might not like the new script'

They met playing husband and wife in sexy thriller Mr and Mrs Smith.

But for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's next reported collaboration, things may be a little less steamy on screen as it's reported the director, Angelina, has been asked to cut out some scenes of sex and violence in her project.

Angelina is working on a big screen biopic of conservationist and palaeoanthropologist Richard Leakey, with Brad rumoured to be in negotiations for the lead, but Leakey has explained he's asked the director to cut out some of the scenes.

Leakey, 70, is known for his discoveries of important hominid fossils in East Africa, with Angelina's planned biopic bringing his varied life to the screen for the first time.

Sparkle in an embellished gown this party season

It's that time of year when thoughts turn to parties and dressing up for those parties.

With a hectic social calendar for the next few weeks, it's imperative you have your outfits sorted in advance to save the stress. And if you have a seriously high-end, black-tie do on the horizon then why not take inspiration from our glamorous celebrity friends?

You can't go wrong with a bit of embellishment as Angelina Jolie proved at the Los Angeles premiere of By The Sea. The Oscar winning actress stole the show in a glittering custom gown by Atelier Versace featuring thousands of tiny Swarovski crystals that caught the light beautifully.

Now we may not all be able to afford crystals and bespoke dresses but there are plenty of sparkly pieces out there that will do the trick at a fraction of the price. So take a look at our edit below for ideas.

His discovery of a Homo rudolfensis skull (KNM ER 1470) and a Homo erectus skull (KNM ER 3733) in the seventies were among the most significant finds of his expeditions. He is also credited for raising global awareness on elephant poaching in East Africa in the Eighties.

Oscar winner Eric Roth has penned the screenplay for Angelina's film, but speaking toAislinn Laing for The Telegraph, Leakey has confessed that after reading the first draft, he has asked for the script to be toned down to better reflect his life.

'I have a reputation for having had a fairly full life, but not nearly as full as that,' Leakey said, but he added he was worried Angelina's husband may no longer be interested in the lead role if the action is stripped out.

'Brad may not like the new script, he was the one having a good time. He might not like the new role - that doesn't have as much action,' the conservationist pointed out.

Angelina has previously spoken of her passion for her fourth directorial effort, which follow's her 2015 drama By The Sea, explaining in a statement about the project last September:

'I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life. [I] was taken with Eric’s beautiful script about a man drawn into the violent conflict with elephant poachers who emerged with a deeper understanding of man’s footprint and a profound sense of responsibility for the world around him.'

Angelina has strong links with Africa through both her work on film, with charities and through her children.

She shot her Clive Owen film Beyond Borders in Africa almost a decade ago, while she also gave birth to her daughter Shiloh with Brad in Namibia in 2006, and adopted daughter Zahara from an orphanage in Ethiopia in 2005.

Leakey is hoping the big screen biopic depicting his life will shoot in Kenya, and provide a welcome boost to tourism in his home country.

When the film was first announced last year it was thought the cost of shooting in Africa might prohibit it from being made there, until the Kenyan government created financial incentives to make the project more affordable.

The script by Roth is described as a 'sweeping epic,' and tells the story of 'African-born Leakey, a fossil hunter who helped find bones of early man but later turned his attention to combating elephant and rhino poaching.'

The film will be produced by David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance, as well as Jon Peters. Jolie will also produce. Roger Deakins, who worked with Jolie on Unbroken, will serve as cinematographer.
