UFC fighter Valerie Letourneau showed off the brutal extent of her injuries some six days after her defeat to Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

The 32-year-old Canadian took her opponent the full five rounds before being beaten in UFC 193, but was left with two blackened and swolen eyes.

And almost a week on, the injuries are still apparent, as she showed on Instagram, while insisting to fans that she was 'healing well'.

'Tk you for all your messages!' she wrote on the social media site. 'I never had so much positive responses coming from a defeat and I am really touched by your support and encouragement. 

'This is me this morning, #NOMAKEUP #NOFILTER , I am healing well, I already miss the gym and I promess to come back stronger! I am ok :)!'

In the fight last Saturday night Jedrzejczyk retained her strawweight title with a hard-fought victory, awarded by scores of 50-45 and 49-46 twice.

The six-time Muay Thai world champion Jedrzejczyk built the pressure in the second round and third rounds with some trademark, lightning-quick combinations to Letourneau's head, while forcing the challenger to keep her distance with some effective kicks.

Letourneau clawed ground back in the fourth and the pair traded punches, visibly hurting each other, throughout final round.
