'Beeming' with pride: I'm a Celebrity camp mates including Eton-educated Spencer Matthews showcase their woeful lack of spelling in Scrabble challenge, with howlers including 'sopher' for 'sofa'

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here's Chris Eubank, George Shelley and Kieron Dyer were elected to compete against rival camp mates - Brian Friedman, Jorgie Porter and Spencer Matthews - in a wildly entertaining game of Bush Scrabble during Thursday evening's episode.

But nothing could have prepared the six contestants for the challenge which required them to put their basic spelling skills to the test - something which they proved to significantly lack as the game played out.

Brian, 38, Jorgie, 27, and privately-educated Spencer, 26, failed at the first hurdle, offering an original and completely inaccurate spelling of 'beams'.

Proud of their efforts, they spun their word around to reveal 'beems' - a word they were convinced was a genuine part of the English language.

While their competitors were left cracking up so too were viewers who ridiculed them on Twitter, with Made In Chelsea's Spencer baring the brunt of it.

'£35k-a-year education and Spencer thinks 'beems' is a real word. Tragic,' one remarked.

Not much better: George Shelley showed his extensive grasp on the dictionary as he offered this unique and inaccurate spelling of 'sofa', much to the bewilderment of his teammates - Chris Eubank and Kieron Dyer

'When you go to Eton and say that "beems" is a legit word on national television,' another added.

'"Beems".... isn't it beams.... *facepalm*,' another user pointed out.

While Chris, 49, George, 22, Kieron, 36, were all too quick to poke fun at their rivals' epic fail, they weren't spared humility with the blame being pinned on the former X Factor contestant.

In an attempt to win maximum points, the Union J singer put forward an equally shocking misspelling of 'sofa', spelling it 'sopher'.

Viewers laid into him on Twitter with one fan tweeting: 'Just kicking back on my 'sopher'.'

Another asked: 'Wow... Did George really just spell sofa, SOPHER?! #ImACeleb,' while one user said: 'I just can't get over the fact George spelled sofa "sopher".'

Despite the epic fail, he didn't cost his team and they sauntered back to camp to deliver the news a feast would be delivered for dinner.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! airs on Friday 20 November on ITV1 at 9pm with a LIVE Bushtucker Trial
