Caitlyn Jenner is urging people to support the trans community on Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The 66-year-old reality TV star - who was known as Bruce Jenner before her gender transition earlier this year - recorded a heartfelt video message on Thursday in which she encouraged people to accept transgender people into their lives.

She said: 'Listen to trans people's stories, hire a trans person in your company, support a trans student in your school, love your trans child. Let's all take action to put an end to hate and violence.

'No one should be killed simply because they are transgender.'

Caitlyn was joined by transgender advocate Chandi Moore, who also called on people to make the world safer for her community.

She said: 'Today, take a moment to learn about the women who lost their lives to hate. Tomorrow, please commit to making the world a safer place for all trans people.'

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was created by Gwendolyn Ann Smith in 1999 following the unsolved murder of Rita Hester.

According to the TDOR site, the day aims to raise awareness of hate crimes against transgender people and publicly mourns and honors the lives of victims.

Caitlyn's message comes after Charmed star Rose McGowan blasted her over a joke she made at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards earlier this month.

The 42-year-old actress lashed out at the I Am Cait star after she quipped the hardest thing about being a woman was deciding what to wear when she picked up her gong at the event in New York.

Taking to her Facebook account, Rose fumed: 'Woman of the year? No, not until you wake up and join the fight. Not by a long f***ing shot. Caitlyn Jenner you do not understand what being a woman is about at all. You want to be a woman and stand with us - well learn us.

'We are more than deciding what to wear. We are more than the stereotypes foisted upon us by people like you.'

In Thursday's episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Khloe recalled with great glee how Caitlyn gave her intimate details about sex change operations.

'Why are you even having these conversations with her?' asked Khloe's close friend Malika Haqq, who appeared grossed out by the chat during a car ride.

'It's so weird,' she added.
