Greatest own goal ever? Hong Kong defender scores incredible 'scorpion kick' volley

It was once thought that in terms of own goals, Lee Dixon, Frank Sinclair and even Chris Brass's bizarre strikes could not be beaten.

But a new contender has emerged from Hong Kong for what is surely the greatest volley ever - own goal or not.


In a Premier League match against AA Citizen, Sun Hei defender Festus Baise was helpless as his attempt to block a cross turned into an inverted scorpion kick that lobbed his own keeper.

Despite laying on his back, contemplating what could have been had it been at the other end, the defender afforded a wry smile as got back up to his feet.

We are slightly disappointed that only two of his team-mates acknowledged his fine efforts - deliberate or otherwise
