She never let any stigma surrounding adoption impede her wild success in the entertainment industry.

Multitalented Kristin Chenoweth posted a short essay to her WhoSay account on Friday describing how she dealt with being adopted.

The 47-year-old wanted to highlight her experience to help raise awareness for National Adoption Day.

'I knew that my birth mother loved me so much that she wanted to give me a better life. And my parents, Jerry and Junie Chenoweth, were looking to adopt a baby and found me—literally less than one week after I was born.'

She went on to defend mothers her make the decision to put up their child for adoption.

'It’s a blessing (and a huge sacrifice) for a birth parent to make the decision to give his/her baby a better life. Sometimes people can’t take care of that baby just yet. (And their circumstances might change in 15 years.)'

The Broadway star also went on to give some advice to would be parents and their adoptees.

'If you’re thinking about adopting a child, remember that it’s a gift you’re getting and it comes with just as much responsibility as if you had your child biologically.'

'As an adopted child—I encourage other adoptees to remember what blessed lives we have. We weren’t abandoned; we were chosen. We were given a chance.'

While she has definitely been delving in activism lately - not only for adoption, but for breast cancer awareness - Kristin has been busy creatively as well.

She released her latest album Coming Home in November 2014, is currently on tour, and is also in the midst of filming, a voiceover roll for a character in the animated movie My Little Pony.

Over the summer, the Glee star was honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, unveiled on her 47th birthday.
